The Yellowjackets led 30-23 at the break. Forward Raason Young contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.

Forward Cliff Ederaine led the Eagles with 14 points and 10 boards.

Yellowjackets coach George Pfeifer, in his third year at the school, credited his team’s defense for the win. Eastern Washington shot only 23 percent in the first half and 25 percent for the game. By comparison, the Jackets knocked down 43 percent of their shots.

“I haven’t been at this university very long, but that was the best defensive effort we have displayed since I have been here,” Pfeifer said. “The best part is I think we can get a lot, lot better. We didn't play the perfect game by any stretch tonight.”

MSUB opens its regular season next Tuesday (Nov. 16) with a 7 p.m. home game against the University of Mary.

Good to see Raason Young doing well. I can only imagine he had something to do with helping them prepare for that game.

Second exhibition game EWU has played without Glen Dean, their starting Pg. Their backup PG also got hurt in the game after about 10 minutes. Eastern is 0-2 in exhibitions.

I believe their backup was hurt in practice the other day and did not play either.

Ya good to see Raason Young doing well! He only has an assault charge against him. How the hell can you cheer for a person like this??? It just baffles me to think we can support people like this. We all make mistakes, but behavior like this cannot be tolerated! I'm a senior at the U, and I can say that a lot of what I see is "thugs" displaying "thug behavior." There are a handful of great kids that I have no problem cheering for, but behavior like this, among other recent incidents, should have a ZERO tolerence policy. Everyone likes a winner, but when it comes at the expense of recruiting athletes with a low level of integrity, it just isn't worth it!

Maybe we should let the courts handle this instead of convicting him on eGriz? A charge =/= guilty.

I'm just glad these games don't affect the conference RPI.

It sure doesn't paint a good picture of what the Big Sky is going to be like this year though :(

ISU is 1-1 in exhibition games (Win over MSU-B, loss to Carroll). EWU is 0-2 with a loss to Seattle Pacific where Seattle Pacific shot 62% from the field, and a loss to MSU-Billings who outrebounded EWU and held EWU to 25% shooting...

Sac won their exhibition, but they only seem to have 3 returning players on their roster from last year  That's a lot of new faces.

The bottom of the Big Sky could be pretty bad again this year. The top though (most likely Weber, the Griz, UNC and the Cats) should be pretty good I think.

Easy, Irish. First I have heard about that.

Yeah, the bottom could be bad. I don't see EWU as a bottom feeder, necessarily. Wasn't their best player out for that game? I know against the Griz last year he was a difference maker.
