Likely NBA draft lottery pick Adam Morrison will forgo his senior season at Gonzaga and sign with an agent, several media outlets reported Monday night.

Morrison is expected to announce his intentions at a Wednesday afternoon news conference. The deadline to declare for the draft is April 29.

Morrison, a 6-foot-8 junior forward, was the nation's leading scorer in 2005-06 (28.4 points per game) and runner-up as National Player of the Year to Duke's J.J. Redick. Redick averaged 27.4 points per game in his senior season.

Following Gonzaga's heartbreaking 73-71 overtime loss to UCLA in the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals in late March, an emotional Morrison said he would return home to Spokane, Wash., and then start thinking about what's next.

"It's going to be a family decision," Morrison said at the time. "I've got to hear from the people who write the checks. ... I have no idea [when]. I've got to go back to Spokane and not do anything. I have no idea what I'm going to decide."

Morrison had five games with 40 or more points this season and is third on the school's career scoring list with 1,867 points, having passed John Stockton and numerous others this year.

Morrison was the only junior on an otherwise all-senior Associated Press All-America first team and Gonzaga's second AP All-American, joining Dan Dickau in 2002.

Are you on drugs Morrison was the most unguardable player in college basketball. He proved it day in & day out in the conference & he scorched the best teams in the country. You know nothing about basketball if you think he needs another year. He will be a top 5 pick in the draft.

Several of the folks on ESPN last night concluded that he would probably be their No. 1 pick in the draft....

And with the diabetes thing who knows how long he can play in the NBA!!!

I am looking forward to watching him, although I don't think he is going to have immediate success. He isn't near as athletic, doesn't have great speed, his D needs major work. On the upside he can get a shot, will compete, and he is willing to put in the work it is going to take at that level. He will have a nice career, but he will not be a star in the NBA in my opinion. The NBA isn't the WCC.

Oh yeah it is always good when a sport loses one of its most recognizable players. Like him or not the casual fan loved to watch him & he brought interest to college basketball. Sure he will be replaced but to say it is a good thing is just plain wrong.

Sorry, It is a great day for college basketball

I agree he's a good player and another year wouldn't hurt him. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Celtics now.

Celtics need more than Morrison. One thing they need is to get rid of Ainge. Hell they haven't seen that lephrechan since Lenny Bias overdosed.

You can't blame him for leaving early, why risk an injury, or further problems with diabetes. I would do the same thing, when you get a shot at your dream take it, not worth the risk of losing it.

no that would be morrison staying

Rick reilly ran an article where Morrison's dad said with the diabetes he has that you never know when your eyes will go bad, when the feet go bad, when the kidneys can't take it anymore, etc. It's obvious that Adam is a thinker and can finish up his last year of school between the NBA season.
