More Packers fun!

OK the Pack is on pace to tie Arizona for being the worst team in the NFL. Since watching them play this year is not very entertaining, I thought I'd create an entertaining poll.

So, if the Pack do get the 1st overall pick they'd have a dilemma, since Matt Leinert will probably be the #1 overall pick.

Should the Pack

- Draft him anyways, who knows if Rodgers will pan out
- Trade spots with Arizona (presumably the #2 overall) and let the Cards get Leinert
- Trade the pick to another team within the top 10 picks for a Defensive player and their 1st round pick (if possible)

And who should they draft? A lineman, DB or D-line?

Here's what I want the Packers to do (Its a stretch but I can dream).

OK they suck this year, and although it pains me to say this, Favre is a shell of what he used to be. So let them grab the #1 overall spot, why not? Fire Mike Sherman, promote Rossley (the current OC I believe), fill in the OC spot with Jeff Tedford from Cal. (Remeber Tedfords QBs have been notorious for succeeding in college and then flopping in the NFL such as Harrington). Jeff will be able to take Rodgers under his wing and let Aaron run the system he's used to.

With the #1 draft pick trade it to whoever wants Lienert, switch them #1 picks and get an experienced D player if possible, if not try to grab a 2nd or 3rd round pick as well. Draft Reggie Bush if he's availabe (don't know his year in school or his pro plans) If he isn't draft the best available Defensive player. Look to pick up an offensive lineman and a linebacker within the first 3 rounds.

Trade Ahman Green to get some solid D players. Build the offense around smashmouth football with Najeh Davenport & finesse around Bush, and allow Rodgers to use Driver, Walker and Ferguson on short route plays and a balanced attack.

Use that system and the Pack would bounce back, proabably go 8-8 in 2006.

or they could do what the chargers did with eli manning and get even more out of leinhart

Yeah - you've got to get more out of the #1 overall pick than that. QB is a thin, thin, thin position in the NFL. Witness - the Jets signed Testeverde today and he'll start on Sunday. Someobody will believe that Leinert is a once per decade talent and will overpay for him. You've got to get a couple of first round picks and probably a couple of 2nd or 3rd rounders as well.

All that being said, I doubt that the Packers will be the worst team in the NFL this year. The Cardinals are very, very bad and the Jets are going to have trouble winning games with an old OL and Testeverde at QB.
