The saddest news out of SAC is that hairbrain plan to "upgrade" the Hornet's Nest. That has to be the biggest waste of money in Sac State history.

I kinda wondered why Alford has not been mentioned in the mix for IU, seeing as how he was their wonder boy.. Maybe his coaching record?

When Sampson was hired, Alford's name came up. I can't remember for sure, but I think he said he didn't feel the time was right to come back there. Maybe he feels differently now.

I also seem to remember that he had talked to Bob Knight, and Knight was against him returning at that time.

The check he gets from Altitude probably doesn't go far. I believe Cravens would be better off going to a big time program as an assistant as Taylor did at Stanford, then get a HC job at a place where he can win. Sac is not a resume builder, ask their last 5 coaches, or better yet, try and find where any of them ever got a good HC job again.

I think Sacramento State is an attractive job in some aspects. You're in the state capitol with beautiful weather and a lot of potential. I don't think that "remodel" is going to be an option for the Hornet's nest, so I'm thinkina a lot of these applicants think they can be THE guy to open the new arena in 4 years or however long it takes. It will take a special recruiter (Jenkins was a very good recruiter, not locally however) to bring in the abundance of local California talent to play in our shack.

It sounds like they're eager to hire in the next two weeks or so. I think Cravens is in love with Vinnie McGhee. I listened to him go on and on about what a player he was on the SAC/MSU broadcast. So, maybe he thinks he can build a team around him.

I hate Dick Vitale even more now because during a broadcast on ESPN last year he talked for a couple minutes about "Coach T" and how he wasn't given a chance at Sacramento State and how our AD was insane and wrong for firing him. How do you win 4 games in two years and expect to not get fired!?

Bennett turned it down which is a good idea. Dakich threw two players off the team recently and with Eric Gordon possibly going pro, you have a bare cupboard and possible NCAA sanctions. Indiana needs to get rid of the lawyer they have as their AD and hire someone with some knowledge of running a successful athletics department.
