Good refereed games, then they don't come into the picture. They are part of the game. As a former referee, I expect fans to evaluate referee performance. Unfortunately, when refs play too big of a role in a game, it is usually negative, one way or the other. I have no problem giving kudos to referees who have a great game. The better refs usually are officiating in major conference games.
I don't see anyone saying the refs were the reason the GRIZ lost. However, if you watched the game in person or online, the block/charge calls were heavily in favor of Wyoming. Travis, rightfully jumped them for it, as well. It is common for smaller conference teams to get the short end of officiating when they play on the road, but not as common when they host.
What is wrong with critiquing officiating? Some fans/people do, some don't. I have coached and officiated. Both are difficult jobs to do consistently well. Good officiating is difficult to come by though. All it takes is 1 questionable official to make their officiating team look terrible. Yes, officiating does play a huge role in a game. It usually dictates the flow of the game. All coaches ask or expect from them, to be consistent for each side. This particular officiating crew had no 1st half consistency regarding block/charge calls. The 2nd half, they were pretty consistent for each side.
