Montana vs Weber State Big Sky Championship Game 7 MTN

Puzzled...Where have you been the last 14 games? The Griz finished as the hottest team in the Big Sky winning their last 11 of 14 games. Beating a rough Eastern team 2 times in a week, taking apart Portland State at home in one of the best team performances I have seen in a long time, beating NAU in Flagstaff which a Griz team hadn't done in over 10 years, owning the Cats tap to finish in the semi's, and then overcoming a sloppy first half last night to win the Championship. How can you not be impressed with what this team has accomplished. They are peaking at the right time, and all you need is a seed to make some noise in the tournament. It happens every year, and there is no reason Montana can't be this year's cinderella story. Even if we are a 16 seed, eventually a 1 seed is going to fall, so why can't we be the ones to pull the unthinkable. Success in the Big Sky is measured by making the tournament. Now don't get me wrong, I have all the respect in the world for the football team, but personally, I would rather be playing North Carolina, Illinois, Arizona, Duke, etc. with a chance to pull one of the greatest upsets in sports history than play for a 1-AA championship against Furman where no one outside the state gives a rip about who wins. Maybe thats just me, I dream big. And if you think the team is not going to be jacked up and ready to go for a NCAA tournment game, you are freakin crazy.

It's sad that a so called GRIZ fan only cheers for one sport. Nobody knocked the football program, so why knock the basketball team?

MinnesotaGriz, you said pretty much what i wanted to say :)

Puzzled....i watched the same weber game as you did (if you in fact watched it). Agreed, the first half we played terrible. But we moved on, played some ball, and pulled out the win. I'm going to assume that you wouldn't have been satisfied if we'd have won by 50 and played the game of our lives. We just won a BSC title and an NCAA berth, thats something a lot of teams can't say.

furthermore, i'm going to re-emphasize something from Minnesota's post, "and if you think the team is not going to be jacked up and ready to go for a NCAA tournament game, you're freaking crazy."

..............and this is the same team that has its eyes set on joining a reputable 1A conference. When you join a new reputable conference your whole athletic program goes with you!

I don't see this basketball team finishing higher than dead last in any 1A conference. Only by playing in a 1AA conference do they ever get to have a chance at National distinction, as a 64th seed, and then their playoff visit will be very short-lived!

No, I would much rather see a school who takes its basketball program seriouly, Not this crapola!

puzzle- why did you choose now to take shots at the BB team!? Strange timing don't you think? Those of us who have stayed loyal to this program for years (a couple of decades in my case) have the right to be excited and upbeat. If you don't think this team has achieved anything, you simply don't know much about BB and sure are not a GRIZ fan. :-? Krysko and staff have done one heckuva job and for the first time in many years, I feel the program has turned the corner and is firmly headed in the right direction. I sure sounds like you are plain disappointed and maybe threatened (?) by their success. I'd like to know why.
