Henkel missoula Mt. played 20 minutes 7min at EWU
Beitinger 13 minutes

Eastern Wa. runs the shot clock down and flops for the charge on defense. In both of the Montana vs Eastern Wa. games Eastern Wa was leading at the 5 minute mark. Montana won both games the 2nd score 55-53 halftime score was 19-20. Karmarr Davis ran into trouble early was a factor at the end when he scored his only 4 points in 17 minutes. Montana shot 32 free throws in both games. Missing 14 in the 2nd game. 56%. Axton is 6-7 spends most of his time running around shooting threes. MT has not seen him at his best. 6-10 from three vs the bobcats. Smith got it going and hit 3-3 from three. 19 pts 8-11 Pariseau had a miserable time 0-6 rolling off the rim. 15 points in first game.

Something to remember about tickets is this is the post season, so some of those good seats down on floor will be available due to season ticket holders not getting their tickets.

I got my tickets last night, but got GA because that is what my kids prefer

:o :o Marc Axton is 6-7 but he is not very heavy. He was named to the ALL Conference team. Last year at eastern Axton did not score and this year at eastern he did not shoot well but took a lot of shots 15 points in 39 minutes. In Missoula Axton stayed on the perimeter and when he came inside he was effective. I do not think Davis can go where Axton goes or anyone else either because he shows up everywhere shooting his three. He hit his first one in Missoula but ended up 3-10 from three point land 1-2 inside. 14 points. He was 6-10 from three in Bozeman. In Missoula Smith was 3-3 from three and Scheffler was 2-4. For MT Dlouhy was 3-4 and Criswell and Martin each tried 2 wide open threes apiece and when they did not go in they wisely went on to other things making 2-3 from inside the arc for a total of 5 shots each. Montana took 16 fewer shots, made three less field goals and shot 56% from the line. All Conference Davis tried hard but struggled (very unusal when Davis struggles.) After all this Criswell was able to hit the winning shot 55-53. Montana trailed 19-20 at the half. Second half score. MT 36 EWU 32. :o :o

Axton is slow afoot. He can have games where he shoots the eyes out-
the first game he has trouble shooting over taller Griz players. EWU sets screens for him. What EWU does do is play tought defense. in Missoula they fronted the posts and took away the inside game. Coaches need to do a bettter job of adjusting. Griz are better than EWU but 3rd times hopefully not the charm.

:o :o Montana lead 53-48 with 45 seconds to play. Final score 58-48. Not going to look all that great playing Eastern. Montana bigs actually looked fine. As a result Montana had 15 assisted baskets out of a total of 18 baskets. The three point shot continues to be a mystery. If Montana gets anything from three point land it will be a gift. I assume the plan will be to abandon the three and continue to score off assists. All of sudden you are wide open for a three. If it is too early in the shot clock it may be bench city. (Farr did not play anyone have an update?) Turnovers although a problem all year were not as ugly as the stat sheet may show because offensive fouls add to your turnovers and Eastern brings out the best in the referees. They do catch them by surprise. Couple of the turnovers were resonable attempts at assists but were not delivered. Expect more of the unexpected for the rest of the tournament. :o :o
