I have watched every home game played by the Montana Lady Griz team this season and have nothing less than the HIGHEST RESPECT and regard for every single player, coach and staff of this resilient team.
The lone senior on the team, Jace Henderson, has been an incredible warrior this season... a leader by example. Her games against Idaho (31 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and one block) and against Portland State this past Thursday (28 points, 18 rebounds and 3 assists) rank among the very top 5 percent of individual games played by ANY/ALL Montana Lady Griz post players... and I've seen them all.
Montana junior point guard, McKenzie Johnston has again led the team with grit, toughness and flair… battling through several games with a face mask to protect a broken nose suffered at mid season.
Similar stories can be told about every player on this team, especially those sitting on the end of the bench in street clothing. Had Montana not suffered injuries this season to three guards (all of them starters) and a fourth guard who redshirted because of injury last season... I honestly believe this team would be fighting for a Big Sky championship. ALL those incredibly resilient and very tough players will be on the Montana bench today.
There would be no better way to honor this team than to show up and show them your support. Go Montana!
