Montana Boys

We don't shit on their two D1 NCs, although the recent one quite lucky and 41 years elapsed between them. When we talk about NAIA titles, it needs to be a Carroll discussion.
Yes the NAIA one is equivalent to whst Carroll did. But I would point out that they killed the griz that year as an NAIA team, do I find it cute that griz fans shit on them for getting the championship through a vote because of a tie. College football worked that way for a 100 years through newspaper votes for #1.
Also the Div II was definitely as legit as any IAA considering it was the same as the modern day FCS. I know griz fans don't want to acknowledge that but it's true to anyone that has followed football through the years. If you were honest you'd admit it.

Again, how do you get a win for not scoring any points? And before you go beating the drum on the Griz beatdown of '56, remember that was the scats first victory in Missoula in 50 years.

It's more that we have both been D1 for 50 years now, have both won two, and that's how our NCs should be measured rather than go back decades to dredge up some minor league stuff. That is defensive insecurity at its best.

The point is D2 in 1976 wasn’t minor league. The top D2 teams today are still very competitive. I can’t speak for NAIA in 1956 whether to count it or not.

Minor league stuff? The cats and griz were both Div II in those years and it was the equivalent of FCS. You know this, but it doesn't fit your narrative. So you want to go back 50 years but not 60? How about we arbitrarily go back only to when FCS started because IAA wasn't the same? It would be the same argument.

I guess he must think Mike Tilleman and Doug Betters played minor league football for the Griz. Never mind that they both played 10 years or longer in the NFL after their minor league careers in Missoula.

They were awarded a championship because of a tie breaker. Sorry if that's too much for you to understand. It's happened in college football for a hundred years. Shit on them all you like.
Great point about the fifty year streak not winning in Missoula. The griz didn't win in Bozeman for 25 years while the cats were NAIA. Keep bragging about the griz record against an NAIA team. The Butte business college likes to brag about their 2-0 record against the griz and Butte HS brags about their 1-0 record vs the mighty griz. You guys are so disingenuous.

There was no tiebreaker. You guys were co champions. How freaking lame is that? The pinnacle of your success to that point and you had to share it.

Not sure who said it was the pinnacle of success. Just saying, it was a championship, and it's frankly pretty shitty of griz fans that try to diminish that accomplishment because it wasn't FCS. Then you all wonder why cat fans chat ESGGCG. Do griz fans claim any of their Big Sky co-conference championships?

You seem to know an awfully lot about the Griz. Either you must be from Butte or a closet Griz fan. Which is it?

Also, cat fans should not be talking any smack about losing to Butte HS. Y'all have a 0-2 record against them. I'm pretty sure those losses came in the same season!

Nope I don't think you'll find cat fans out their beating their chest about winning against NAIA teams or below like griz fans fo.

From '06 to '09 the Griz lost one conference game (Weber) which was revenged in the playoffs. 32-1.
Unsatisfactory? Get real. That was a GREAT run.
Were any of the other conference teams during those years ACTUAL contenders? He put up great numbers when the Big Sky was at its weakest

Cats won the 1984 national championship. Starting in 1986 the Griz beat the Cats sixteen consecutive times with "The Streak" lasting until 2002. The sky is not falling...
Need to get back to the drivers seat and not the back seat. Lead the way instead of try and rebuild the past.
