Money Ball

Don't forget that most of the payoff goes to pay for the new turf, installed last year with the understanding it would be paid for with the take from this game.
Yet "mondays" numbers still look valid, on paper. So I'm guessing the difference takes us back to peculiar accounting norms. That is, income from season tickets and the "live gate" are "purple" money and pre-allocated in the budget to pay certain specific expenses. Obviously, those categories do not include a field upgrade. But income from an away game is "green" money and the department has more discretion about how they can spend it. (Trust me, I worked for a contractor to the U. S. government, and know all too much about purple, green and red money.)

The argument is out there that we could have gotten the same revenue from a home game, this is probably true. This is like a bonus, (only have so many home games per year) so it's an away game, but the revenue is like a home game, but have many other options on where to use it.

Hope they set aside a $50,000 signing bonus for Hauck.
