Missoula Youth Football--Game One

I know, you think I'm living vicariously though my kid (he's a 7th grader-5'2" and 155 lbs.)! Well, I'm not. His mom and I tell him he can quit anytime he wants, and do whatever he wants-except a ballet dancer (he doesn't want to do that anyway). It was about 82 degrees at game time! He played fullback and middle linebacker for the Rams today. For running back he had three carries, and about 15 yards. No huge runs. This was the first time he had ever played middle line backer, though. He was quite nervous. Coach "T" signaled in the plays, and he had to relay them to the players. He's generally a quiet, pretty mellow dude! Well, he was yelling them out. He finished the game with-and I'm not exaggerating the story, because I'm really gaining nothing from anyone by telling you all this-16 tackles and 3 sacks. All the kids were dripping wet, and exhausted at the end of the game. I said, "Rocky, that's a Dante Olson line!" He said, "Yeah, but I missed two. Look at the blood on my arm. I ran thru that big guy all day long. He couldn't stop me. On the last play, he accidentally stuck his hand up through my helmet, and two of his fingers went up my nose." He had blood in his nostrils, and on his mouth, and the biggest smile I've ever seen. And then, he gets home, rests for about an hour, eats, and goes and plays with his best friend. Thanks for humoring me. Go Rams!
