Missoula/MT HS basketball future

i've seen longsoldier play personally several times. the kid is flat out unbelievable. can play ANY position on the floor right now. no glaring weak spots in his game. very unselfish player, as well. this kid could score 35 a night with ease if he didn't penetrate and dish so well. also draws box-in-one's from almost every team that plays against him. he dominated the native american classic game last month in great falls. also, this kid is not even 16 years old yet......talked with lots of folks in the hi-line area that have seen some excellent talent over the years (jake stuart, mat seidenstiker, grosecloses, etc) that say he's the best they've ever seen from around the hi line.

he is no longer enrolled at Hays......enrolled currently at Harlem. just transfered at the beginning of the quarter so he could be eligible by basketball season. if he stays eligible, should bring home state "B" trophy for Harlem. the concern is staying eligible....not sure about his grades, but has had some history of team rule violations. he has a LOT of challenges ahead of him, but if he continues to develop, should have the skills to play D1 ball.

If he has decent grades, are you referring to alcohol when you say team rules violations? There are not many rules on a high school basketball team, but the ones that get broken the most are gardes, drinking, curfew, and fighting. I hope he gets his head on straight whatver his issues are, but I also hope he is held to the same standards as any other player, despite his talent. Players that are coddled and catered to in high school seldom can handle the college environment.

main issues have NOT been grades, and that's about all i feel comfortable saying publicly about a 15 year old athlete...

as i stated before, LOTS of things working against him, but here's hoping he overcomes them all

:thumb:  More EGRIZZERS need to learn a lesson from this. No need to complicate a teenager's life more. They all have to live and learn.

That's cool, but if people bring him up, then mention off the court problems, then don't be shocked when people ask follow up questions. If people don't want those things to come out, then really they should be left unsaid. Someone asked me if I could keep a secret, to which I replied yes, they said, "so can I". I think you get my point. I would have never had a reason to ask, nor do I assume because someone is American Indian that they have those issues. I wish him nothing but the best, hopefully his athletic ability becomes a conduit to an education, a nice family, and career.

WOW Backer, I am impressed. Posts are well typed with a bonus word for us, "Conduit". You must be in good mood, or for some reason trying to prove something to the grammar nit pickers. :thumb:

PS: I hope this is not contagious! Is this same backer?

I am in a good mood nearly all the time. I just happen to be a very passionate Griz fan and prefer to say what I mean, rather than what I think someone wants to hear. Worrying if someone is smart enough to be able to differentiate when I am kidding, as opposed to when I am serious is an excercise in futility anyway. I try and be respectful, but admit I fall short at times. If I was worried about grammar nit pickers or spell check gestapo, I would be en route to the nearest building over 4 stories. I don't think 3 would be high enough to do the job. :thumb:
