Milestone year for LG?

At the beginning of the year Head Coach Robin Selvig had a career record of 774 - 247; at last check, with a 6 - 3 record to present, it stands at 780 - 250.

With a twenty game BSC regular season schedule ahead if the LG sweep all 20 games then the last regular season game at Sacramento State would be the 800th career victory for Robin Selvig. Do you really think this year's team can do it? The last couple games have been rather lackluster in many departments. I think it can be done; better sooner than later.

That's asking a lot. That would mean road wins at MSU, ISU, EWU, PSU, UNC. None have been easy places for wins in the past few years. If you watched the last two home games, you have to wonder if every game will be a struggle.

Haven't seen them play this year yet, but I think this would be awfully difficult. The LG would have to basically win out and I just don't see that happening.

Sometime next season though we will celebrate the 800 career victory for Coach Selvig.

let me tell you how this season will unfold for the ladies, because it will be so similar to all prior seasons.
--preseason, they will schedule good teams, and against these good teams, they will play outstanding basketball for one half but then shoot 18% the other half and get beat;
--they will have a good shot not only to make the big sky tournament, but to host it, and they will have a decent chance to make the ncaa tournament, where they will...
--get blown out by a bigger quicker team, while shooting 18%;
--they will suffer at least one key injury during the season;
--robin's recruits will be from montana, washington, oregon or idaho and they will be...
--all white, except for the wonderful tradition we have of recruiting native american players from montana, and all these recruits will be...
--bewteen 5'7" and 6'2", all-conference or all-conference second team, and robin will tout their "versatility;"
--montana will continue to be a "big sky power" but our infuence will never extend beyond that, while the men have a chance to build a national reputation, and recruit players who have a shot at playing professional basketball;
--robin will continue to pile up the wins, but at a slower rate than he did in the early days of women's basektball, when montana had a chance to build a national profile;
--the ladies will continue to draw good crowds, because women play basketball with more heart and less ego than the men, and this behavior appeals to a large segment of the population, including me.

I laughed.

Good post, Citay.

And I agree fully with the comment about playing with heart.

i'd laugh if it didn't describe our msu mens team. minus the part where we play lights out in the first half..... :oops: :cry:
