Mick Durham Situation

There are rumors circulating that he is stepping down.

It's a rumor that I can't confirm, but I believe it.

I was really wondering how he planned to handle the team for next year with all the holes to fill. I think it could be a rough couple years for Bobcat basketball in the future. It's unfortunate, but there's a reason why you don't recruit a large number of JC's in a single year.

If he steps down who steps in? Could it be(I believe I have his name right) Scott Hatler the old Great Falls High standout who played at MSU or possibly Danny Sprinkle?

Went to the AA State semis last night Howard looked real good.

I also heard tonight that the Bison beat Bozeman for the championship. First one since 1995.

1st Huse was an assistant at MSU about 10 years back; he has a lot of friends in the athletic department and Bozeman community. Right now the respect between the two programs is at an all time high mainly because of Huse.

2nd How is the program in disarray, could you explain this one to me. We had a disappointing year but have a solid group returning. We have some great players who are freshman or redshirts, a very strong fall recruiting class this fall and three open scholarships for him to fill some wholes if needed. You could say we will young, that’s fair, but we should not lack talent.

3rd As an ex coach at MSU and you fools at UM looking to replace Larry with Tinkle when he moves on, why would he look at a head coaching position at MSU, Weber or Idaho State. BTW I have heard he is getting a look at by ISU.

I would still state that my success rate -despite repeating that one rumor- is still better than 90% of those who post one this board. Besides Dennison himself came out in November and confirmed that you almost lost Krysco to the NBA last summer.

Take it easy on mslacat, barney! He's a great source of recruiting info and his Krysko related "rumor" did have some basis in fact. I don't want to have to go over to bobcatnation to get U of M recruiting info. :thumb:

And that is the crux as to why his retirement is up in the air. Prediction: Durham will not be at MSU for the 2008 season.

It looks like the Durham story may have broken publicly (i.e. rumor publicly) on egriz. Is that right? How come we didn't hear this first from MslaCat or the other Cat posters?

He may need to develop some thicker skin. While he may not deserve grief for anything, he seems to get his feelings hurt easily. Maybe he should try getting pissed instead, like some of the rest of us. (These comments are meant to be positive, mixed with a bit of teasing.)

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!

Actually I did not take the comments that hard, but to say I blew my crediablity for repeating a rumor that was based in strong fact well..... besides it a Griz who told me it. Someone who has often fed me info that he would like to be known, this was the very first time he was wrong. I agree though I should not have posted it with out confirming it with a second source.

A few tid Bits on Durham:

- Peter Fields has made it quite clear to any and all boosters who called last week that he will not fire Durham.

- Good source last week had the odds 40% Durham would retire / 40% He would be back / 20% he would be replaced. The 20% was reflecting the fact that president Gamble had not yet spoken on the subject.
