Miami-UFI Brawl

Anybody else here notice the disconnect between older posters' reactions to that brawl and our resident juvie? I disagree w/ Swilly that it was "entertaining." But I know A LOT of the under-30 set would agree with him.

That's a sad commentary on how people have gone from celebrating a game to celebrating distractions from it (touchdown dances after a first down, et. al).

That fight was stupid and has no place in football. If they want to act like that they can go take part in cage fights on PPV TV.

Pathetic.

I haven't heard: has Coker been fired or resigned yet? 'Cuz my reading between the lines in the paper this morning led me to believe he would be fired.

You can stick a fork in Coker right now...he's done..

I think he was done before this but this will do it.

Kick the real bad ones off each team...one that was using helmet for weapon and the leg stompers.

And...maybe the dumb ones running around with helmets off...too dumb for school.

I would have to agreee with you, the fight has no place in football/sports/ or anywhere for that matter. Now you could complain about it, and say how such bad people they are, and how badly they acted, or you could take a more laid back approach and take it for what its worth. It is funny to see college athletes act like such fools but lighten up alittle and realize that it happened in Florida and such behavior has become expected from teams down there, like it or not :twocents:

Yeah, I must say that if I were going to get into a fight and I were wearing football gear, I would leave my helmet ON and find something else to swing.

Then again, I can't imagine I'll ever get into a fight.

That's the first time I have watched this with the announcers...whom ever the JACKASS is that is running his mouth like a thug in the booth ought to have his ass sent packing as well. Coker is done! He lost control of the program years ago.

I just hope both programs use enough disipline on both players and coaches to set the example for any other teams that choose to act like animals.

I heard ont he radio, that he said (I'm paraphrasing here) that "The other team was just jealous because Miami did not scholarship them" and that "He has control of the program...no doubt about that...he has control"

they will all serve suspensions (1 game) of an undetermined time frame

:lame: :loser: :naughty: :lame:

Go now cokehead.

Swilly the REAL problem is people like you are ok with this behavior instead of throwing the hammer down.

Then the idiot thugs think, "hmm it's ok, I never got in trouble last time". I would prefer they said something like, " there is noway I will ever do something like that again after my punishment, I lost my scholarship, my priviledge to play football, and now I get to think about that all day while I make liscense plates, When I get out I am going to act like a civil human being, grow the fuck up and leave the world a better place than when I was a kid".

These players should not be on TV, not allowed to play football and held "BEYOND" accountable for their actions. Instead people with your mindset will go esy on them, think they are cool, blame it on race or income level, or whatever excuse you can come up with.

This thing will happen again and again more frequently until it is almost the norm.

I hope nobody is really surprized by this isht. It's only an extension of the "gangsta" thing. White, black and brown. A good example is the idiot announcer who you could barely understand, Ma fa uh eee dem in our haas. The station must think that is what people want. F**k the "gangstas". :twocents:

this from the guy who brags about driving at dangerous (to others) speeds on his li'l crotch rocket? the drunk guy in the pictures? the guy who physically threatens little old men in the bar because of internet posts that he repeatedly claims (later in life) that he "doesn't take seriously"

preach on, brother hyporcrisy.

Me? Put what hammer down? What Am I goign to do that is going to change all of this? I have no part in this whatsoever, so why would I bitch about the behavior? Are you going to go to each player that was involved personally and tell them that what they did was wrong and they should cut it out because it sets a bad example for kids? I live in Montana and that happened down in Florida, so unless your going to do something about this, just let it go

What I would do:

Suspend all players involved in the fight for 2 games

Suspend players who: used helmet as a weapon, stomped on other players, or resisted containment from refs or police for entire season (lose elgitablility)

Fire Coker, now, send a message. Usually I wouldn't put the blame on the coach, but how many classless acts has his team displayed. FIU coach put on probation.

Both teams take a loss.

I do feel that some of the players involved were either protecting themselves or trying to stop the fight. If you were in the middle and someone attacked you, wouldn't you fight back.

The instigators are dicks. They didn't become dicks in one play, day, week or season. The voluntary participants are dicks too. Football is a team sport, this looked to me like a team brawl. Notice on the youtube clip all the smiling faces after the incident. The shots of the crowd showed lots of smiling faces too.The "team" should run the buttheads off before any games are played as they are easily identifiable. DICKS. Otherwise they are all abetting.

They ought try and "let them go" like in hockey. Once the fight is over then throw the bums out for the rest of the game and suspend them for as many additional games as the NCAA feels is acceptable. In addition, the player that starts the fight gets the more severe punishment.

It is just too bad that nobody had the nuts to just stop the game and give both an "L". Miami won on the scoreboard, but everyone lost in that game.

Let them go? It lasted over 10 minutes. How many Hockey fights fo that long. I think Miami and UFI should have to forfeit the rest of the season.

i could be wrong, but i think that was dubbed-in from whoever posted this on you-tube. i have noticed this in other videos i have watched from you-tube. if you watch this whole thing unfold on other websites, that dude talkin' stupid is nowhere. just a guy trying to be funny i think.

From ESPN:

Adding to the absurdity was Miami TV analyst Lamar Thomas, a former Hurricanes player, who tried to justify the melee as it unfolded (Thomas was relieved of his duties by Comcast Sports SouthEast early Monday evening).

"Now, that's what I'm talking about," said Thomas, as he endorsed the fight on live TV. Moments later, he said, "I was about to go down the elevator to get into that thing."
