I think you already have one on staff that I was surprised was overlooked in place of Delaney for this past season; especially considering...
His name is Leon Burtnett. He already has Head Coach experience insofar as being the Head Coach of the Purdue Boilermakers from 1982 to 1986. This with assistant coaching experience at such places as Washington State, San Jose State, Michigan State, Fresno State and Colorado State amongst others. I also think it's safe to say that he's..."been there, done that."
For instance, as the Head coach of Purdue for five years, he was the Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1984; taking his 7-5 (6-3 in Conf.) team to the Peach Bowl though losing to Virginia 24 - 27. Purdue ahead at the half 24 - 14 behind the QBing of a Jim Everett. The same year he defeated Gerry Faust of Notre Dame when ND was #8 in the Nation. Also defeated Notre Dame in 1985. He also led his Purdue team in defeating the #2 team at the time in Ohio State in 1984, with attendant victories over Michigan and Michigan State. As I say, He's been there and done that. It's about time to can what we have in Delaney, thanks but no thanks for the rest of the season, bite the bullet and turn the reins over to him. :thumb:
And get this train wreak back on track!!!
(That's if you even give a God Damn any more; which, as it stands at present, appears as if there's a lot that don't. All things considered equal. If you continue with this "sink or swim" routine now I'd most likely put my money of the former case 'cause there ain't no improvement since the beginning of the season that I've seen. And all indications say the same. It's only going to get worse otherwise.)
No kidding. I was wondering this as well. He was obviously a good coach in his hay day. I don't think that he could did any worse than Delaney & I'm sure Leon knows how to finish a game.
