Men's Assistant

OK this is simply an observation. Starting today the and lasting all month is the most important and busy time for D-1 basketball college coaches. The July recruiting period. There are literally dozens of basketball camps/tourneys for both high school and JC players scattered all over the country. Not only is this period critical to identifying and recruiting kids for this coming November's signing period, but it also critical in identifying prospects for 2010. That said programs usually cast off coaches to all corners of the west and mid west. Considering the NCAA requires at least one coach remaining on campus at all times, having only two coaches available to recruit tourneys in July might be tough.

All of that said, I wonder if Tinkle does not already have someone on staff and it just has not been announced.

No one on staff as of the weekend, but zeroing in one. Coaches on the road as of Saturday, including to a tourney in Tulsa.

Tulsa would be the Jerry Mullens JUCO 120 Camp (Invite only) at Oral Roberts University

Bill Evans starts as men's asst. July 14th.

30 yrs experience, the last 15 as head man at Southern Utah.

Just announced officially.

i'm rooting for experience. i'm rooting for a coach known for defense. since neither hill nor duchesne is ready for a head slot, it would seem to be a good opportunity for an experienced coach. even ex-head coach. if he just happened to be black, so much the better. this is a critical hire.

montana needs to resume it's traditional role as being among the nation's leaders in field goal percentage defense. until that happens, this program will not reach championship level.

yes!

if this is tinkle's hire, he has just demonstrated one of the qualities of all successful executives, leaders and coaches--the willingness to hire up. he has just fired up the base, and punched his ticket to big-time success at montana.
