Thank you for your clarification, Ashley. I understand that the bowl system is basically about money, which was confirmed during the Military Bowl earlier in a discussion about why Maryland received such a low bowl seed. I enjoy the bowl season, although by the time the final game rolls around, the earlier ones do seem a little hazy. I do implore you to understand that WE had nothing to do with the decision to either move up or stay in the FCS division. That would be imparting way too much power to the posters on this board.
Personally I think the players in a bowl game get as excited as those in a playoff system. Which one is superior is probably personal preference. I do find it somewhat hurtful when folks say that teams in the FBS are the only ones that count. That seems to denigrate all those who leave their blood, sweat and tears on the field in Division II, Division lll, NAIA Division l, ll, well, you get my point. Reaching the pinnacle of their respective divisions may very well mean just as much to them as it does to the players from Auburn or Oregon. Granted they likely don't have the same physical tools, just as the Big Sky Conference is nowhere near competetive with the SEC, but some of them graduate and become husbands fathers, taxpayers, and even captains of industry like yourself. Heck, amigo, if we walk down that road far enough I guess there are those that would say that people shouldn't care about college athletics at all since they certainly aren't on par with the professionals. Now I can't speak for you, but it seems that my son cares a lot about his Little Guy football team. At least he was crying when they lost in the playoffs. I wouldn't have the heart to tell him it is an inferior brand of ball.
Does your wife work in an ER or some other area of endevor? At any rate, it is a good excuse to switch to Rye. I have a little of my 92 year old uncle's eggnog recipe calling me, I think. It requires copious quanities of of Jack Daniels to make it effective. Best Wishes.
