Watch the Lady Griz whenever they can.
Wayne has complained last year and after the game against CSU about soft defense after missing several shots.
Well, Today, with Lady Griz playing Wyoming Cowgirls, was a prime example what defense can do when the shots aren't going down.
Lady Griz fell behind 13 - 3 after 5 minutes. couldn't hit a shot at all, and played somewhat poor defense.
This is kind of where the men's would start giving up expecially on defense. But, that is not what a Robin Selvig coached team would do. From the 15 minute mark in the first half, Lady Griz increased their intensity fivefold. Wyoming scored only 1 point for the next 10 minutes and Lady Griz lead by 19 - 14.
Lady Griz went on to win the game 71 - 64 lead by Ena with 19 points.
It has to start with defensive intensity, and also on the mental end too. Don't give up after missing a few shots. Once the Griz can play defense with a lot of intensity for 40 minutes things will get better.
As for the Lady Griz, they aren't really that deep yet. Basically the starting 5 and Shaunte Nance-Johnson. Linford and Robison got in some minutes (10 minutes total for both of them). Sonya played all 40 minutes. Mandy would have if it weren't for a cramp in her calf, played 39 minutes.
It will be interesting watching Selvig develop that bench. It will be deeper by conference time.
