Cant wait Matsui takes him deep and says welcome to the Bronx in Japanese to him

I don't really know about the situation between the Yankees & Roger Clemens, I like the fact that Andy Pettitte is back though; I've kinda soured against 'The Rocket' ever since that fiasco with Mike Piazza a couple years back when he was with the Mets. I still don't know if he was throwing the broken part of the bat towards Piazza or not, let alone the beaning being unintentional. Maybe. But it still didn't look good.

That happenned in june of 2002, time to let it go. You aren't going to define Rockett's career by that are you? Rocket woul dhave won twice as many games with The Yankees than he did with the Astros with their lousy run support.

Granted, Roger Clemens was only 7 - 6 last year for the Astros with a 2.30 ERA, pitching 19 starts & 113.1 innings. But his average outing is only like less than six innings (5.96 approx.) a start, Jaret Wright lasted an average of five innings (27 starts & 140.1 IP or 5.18 approx.) a start & NY traded him to the Baltimore Orioles for 23 year old RHP Chris Britton. And Clemens is going to be 44 come 04 August 2007.
If NYY signs Clemens I would imagine that it would be for far less than the $ 18 million a year that he has been wanting in past years. Unless R. Johnson is slow in coming back & C. Pavano gets traded I don't really see much space in the rotation for him at present.

Another wild card is Humberto Sanchez; scouting reports on him are really good. He's big like Hughes (6-6 and 220) and supposedly has a wickedly live arm. With him and Hughes pushing the rotation, I'm not so sure that the Yanks will go after Clemens. The Pettite connection is the strongest bet, but I doubt they will court Roger a whole lot. But then again, in my book, Pavano is a total washout, so who knows? And I haven't heard anything about Johnson's disc surgery. He's what, 42 this year?

I guess the 'Big Unit' is going to be 44 come 10 Sept 2007; he did pitch 205 innings last season goinig 17 - 11 & 33 starts with a 5.00 ERA. He does only have to win twenty more games to reach 300 though. Career 3.22 ERA.
The other pitchers gotten from Detroit for Gary Sheffield are highly touted as well, especially 22 year old RHP Kevin Whelan, a possible future closer.

He'll go 22-7 with a 2.4 era and win a Cy-Young. He's that good.

Did (J. D.) Drew pass his physical or didn't he?

J.D. Drew is a bum. I saw him walking down Hollywood Blvd. masturbating and making out with circus midgets.

How much cash you got to bet on that?

What I'd really like to see is a pitching duel matchup with LHP Kei Igawa getting the win & #18 RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka getting the loss.

Is this the fate of Daisuke Matsuzaka?

I certainly would be the last to hope for any injury to a sports competitor, let alone pitchers. I hope they all have injury free careers. Then, again, some Mariners fans may not enjoy this other link:

No Mariner fan I know was in the least bit surprised when Dave and crew wrote that series last year. The USSM crew did a good job pointing out exactly what the Price regime cost the team. They shredded a lot of good arms.

Bavasi is doing something very similar to the organization's hitting prospects right now, BTW. His stated philosophy is to force the minor league hitter to fail in the minors. The theory is that everyone fails eventually and he doesn't want the first bout of failure to be in the majors - he wants them to learn how to deal with it in the minors. Problem being that he might just destroy the confidence of a slew of players along the way.

As soon as a player starts having a little success, he is promoted. Johnson (catcher from Butte!) was promoted from high A ball in 2005 strait to AAA Tacoma last year and struggled. The organization's other catching prospect, Clement, was in High-A ball for a little over a month, got hurt, was out for two months and was immediately assigned to AAA Tacoma as soon as he came back. His confidence looked shot and he was terrible. His struggles spilled over into the summer league, where he was so bad they had to send the organization's top hitting coaches to see what was wrong.
