Mariners - Yankees

M's get the 1st game yesterday! I like their chances of winning today a lot better than tomorrow (Batista is pitching today, he's alright - Horacio Ramirez on Sunday, he sucks)

Batista was awesome, only lasted 2 innings though. Nice to see Yankee Pitcher Desalvo not get screwed like the did the last time he faced Seattle. Yanks 7 M's 2

Ugh, well with Ramierez pitching today the Yanks should enjoy another good hitting day. Crap, I was hoping for a better outing yesterday for the series win. Oh well...

Yeah, like today. :crybaby:

SERIES WIN! And unless they meet again Ms take the season 4-3 against the "best team money can buy."

Let me know when the M's win 1 World Series, let alone 26 like the New York Yankees have.

Actually it looks like the Ms travel to NY in September for 3 games, so it looks like the total matchup of the season will be determined then. I'm just happy the Ms have shown up the Yanks so far!

I am thrilled for you. Care to wager on the series in New York? Say $500? PM me. :thumb:

Thanx a lot 'Re/MaxGriz.' Now your Mariners can take it out on all the others as well: the Angels, Athletics, etc. etc. etc. Wish ya luck!!

This is a good year for the Yanks to develop some younger pitchers. Besides which, what ever happened to Carl Pavano? Is he some kind of hypochondriac or what?

Hope your Feliz recovers, I think you'll need him down the stretch. I hear he'll start next Tues. against the Angels for about 75 - 80 pitches.

They are lucky he can even pitch this season after that dumbass Hargrove overpitched him in back to back starts and nearly had him slated for Tommy John surgery.

ESPN2's First Take reported this morning that a certain very important Yankee (one who had to get a very big shave when he became a Yankee) has essentially given up on the Yanks catching his former team. There's an 8-game cushion right now. Seems a little early to concede, but I for one don't think the Yanks will get it done. They'll make it interesting, though.

BTW, the controversy over Torre's job seems to me to be just more 80's era Steinbrenner bluster. To can him when Cashman's the idiot in charge of bogus player pickup would be incredibly stupid. Of course, we can't put it past Steinbrenner; he made a mistake every time he canned Billy Martin.

I doubt you know enough of the behind the scenes dealings with the Yankees to place the blame at Cashman's feet. If you were talking about wrestling, I would not make a comment because I know you know wrestling (fake wrestling that is). :thumb:

As for the Johnny Damon comment, I doubt that too. He knows full well how the Sox are only an inury or two away from trouble themselves. They are looking strong now, but this is a 162 game schedule. I have seen them blow a 9 game lead in less than a month.

It's interesting how the Seattle Mariners are scheduled with interleague games this year. For instance:

Yankees vs. 6 games against the Mets, three each contra Colorado, Arizona, SF & Pittsburgh; combined record of opponents 96 - 92.

Seattle has six games against the mighty San Diego Padres with three each against the Cubs, Houston, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati; combined record of 87 - 99.

While Boston has six against Atlanta, three each against SF, Colorado, Arizona and SD; combined record of 99 - 91.

I'd rather have all teams play each other equally with no more than three games per opponent of interleague but what can one do?
