Mariners - Yankees

Up until 2-3 yrs ago you didn't have much competition. And yeah, you owned the Dodgers. :lame:

You are like the Minnesota Vikings, though, when it comes to the big game(s). :thumb:

I believe the Braves are just like the Griz and the Denver Broncos when it comes to big games. We all have championships but you would be a fool to bet on us in the big one.

All three teams lose more than is acceptable. The exception being that i could watch Denver lose every big game for the rest of their exhistance and laugh all the way.

Grizbacker are you seriously crying about a regular season game? Perhaps you are a real Yankees fan. Granted it was an atrocious call, but you know what was an even worse call?...thinking Mariano is still a competent closer!
Get over it, its the regular season...oh wait your not going to make the post season, cry away.

For those youngsters that don't remember the Vikes' futility of the '70s, one could pose a parallel with the Buffalo Bills of the '90s, who were actually WORSE than the Vikes in that their four blown SBs were CONSECUTIVE. Now, THAT whomps!

Being a Cowboys fan, I remember those years.

Still like the fact, hopefully that it isn't overlooked any, that the Yankees started a rookie pitcher, RHP Matt DeSalvo. If he pitches even close to that again/career it'll definitely be acceptable.

7 IP, 3 hits, 1 run. I'd say that's pretty good for the first start of any pitcher.

I'd hold judgement until he pitches against a team that bats better. He looks ok, but got into a few jams. The Ms really helped him out by swinging at a lot of 1st and 2nd pitches and not forcing him to work to full counts. The Ms have been fairly poor at the plate for years, and usually they make a lot of pitchers look much better than they really are.

I'm a Cowboys fan as well. The difference is that I'm a Cowboys fan who's stuck in the early '80s. If I had enough money to buy the Cowboys (which I will never have), I would replace Wade Phillips, Tony Romo, and Mat McBriar (yes, all three of them) with the immortal Danny White, IMO the best football player who ever lived. I will always believe that that would mean instant Super Bowl title. But, as GB will tell you for free, I'm absolutely nuts.

Like using Yankees, Mariners and losers in the same post isn't the most redundant thing ever posted on this board.

Braves won................................again.

....There is a very good reason he didn't go to beantown. If the Sux can barely eke out a 5 game cushion with all the injuries the Yanks have had, they have no chance when the Yankee pitchers are healthy, and Clemens joins the rotation. Look at what he did with Houston and that pitiful run support. The Yanks lead the majors in runs scored.

Back to Clemens....What did he do in Houston? Last year he pitched for 3 or 4 months with a 7-6 record, and usually couldn't make 6 innings against the NL lineups. Do you really think he'll pitch more innings for more months against tougher lineups? I'd say it is doubtful.

And do you really think the Yankees will win the AL East this year?

You are making this too easy. I am batting .750 off you, rubber arm man. Clemens posted a 2.30 ERA, so obviously he NEVER got any decent run support. He would have gone about 12-2 in NY last season with their run support. His ERA was unbder 2.00 the previous year. He is still dominant. Let me know when you can make a legit point.

That's a mighty good point there, 'Grizbacker1.' I mean, How does someone lose eight games while having an ERA of 1.87? 2005 stats with Houston with 211.1 IP in 32g; that's still averaging about 6.5 innings an outing.

In 2006, 113.1 IP in 19g averaging about 5.94 innings a game with a 2.30 ERA. I'd say that's doing pretty damn good at any age.

Interestingly, as I recall, didn't Houston once have a minor league team in Kissimmee, Florida at one time. I think it may have been around the late nineties till about 2003 or something like that.

Anyways, I can just imagine the crowd response when the PA announced the home team entering the field:.. "And now ladies and gentlemen, I give you your 'Kissimmee Astros.'"

Well, I was asking if you really thought the Yanks would win the AL East this year, because I thought maybe you would be foolish enough to bet on it. What with quotes like the 'Sux have no chance this year'.

But I wasn't quick enough. And now the Yanks are so far back that I don't know if I even could make that bet in good conscience. Taking money on such an obvious sucker bet just wouldn't feel right.

M's get the 1st game yesterday! I like their chances of winning today a lot better than tomorrow (Batista is pitching today, he's alright - Horacio Ramirez on Sunday, he sucks)

I thought you would be back after a win, you seem to have disappeared the last series, although I kind of expected it. :thumb:

It will be interesting to see if that Yankee pitcher will do well again against the Ms. It'll be a little more difficult on the road against players that have seen him pitch last week. I didn't see the game, but it sounded like he did pretty good.

Are you kidding? Red Sox fans have a lot of faults, but not being around when the Sox aren't winning has never been one of those faults.

So in your world Yankee fans from out west aren't bandwagoners, and Red Sox fans disappear when the team doesn't do well?

Oh and I guess your non-answer means that despite your bluster, you aren't expecting the Yankees to actually win the division. At least you are somewhat grounded in reality.

Keep talking, you guys are good at that. The Yankees have ONLY won the last 9 straight division titles, so I suppose the odds are that one day you get one in a season the Yankees have had more games lost to injuries than the rest of the AL East combined. I still will not be suprised if the Sox choke, that is one thing they are accomplished at.
