Yes, this has been a fun run and I hope that the momentum continues. We have to be realistic, though. The M's got hot when the schedule got easy. In June, they had series against KC, Mn, both LA teams, San Fran, San Diego, and Arizona.
Gag.
Minnesota is playing better but the rest of those teams are dogs. It's almost a shame that some team has to come out of the NL West - there isn't a team there that deserves to play in the post season. Again.
In July the M's play series against Detroit, Toronto (home and away), the Yankees, Boston, and Cleveland. Oof. I will be surprised if the team is still at .500 by the end of July. Very, pleasantly surprised.
We'll see how Beltre reacts to seeing all the nasty breaking stuff that the AL teams can throw out there. Will he be able to lay off those nasty sliders, knuckle curves and sinking fastballs? I hope so - this team stinks when he isn't hitting.
Color me a cynic but I'm still not a believer in this team. Back-to-back seasons of futility will do that, I guess. I pegged them as a .500 team at the beginning of the year and I'm sticking with it.
