Didn't Stitt create this offense to succeed when he didn't have any superior athletes at any position?

Nobody said that. There are weaknesses, but Jones, Hendu, Roberts et.al, aren't close to middling or inferior. Did you expect Stitt to abandon his philosophy just because he didn't have the right horses up front? We haven't seen Lwood, Favors or Calhoun (he's been in the game book @least two of three weeks this fall) as yet so am not calling the running backs a bust as yet. Nguyen was caught from behind returning were he had an alley to run in, all you need to know about his ability to function in this or any offense. But teams will ignore the run and blitz most downs, as Liberty did, until they show they can put a hat on a hat and secure the line of scrimmage.

I think he's trying to argue that if inferior athletes at Mines were able to have success agains supposedly better athletes at the schools they faced at that level, why does it matter who the offensive line is at um. If the o-line at Mines were say 3/10 or 4/10 out of say an average level(5/10) for that Division and they were successful against a talent level of average and above, where do the um o-line stack up compared to the talent level that they face? Are they average? Slightly above average? Because, I think the argument that he's trying to make is that um lineman shouldn't need to be a super dominate group under our conventional definition of a dominate o-line if this system is set up to compete with superior athletes. And also, I would assume that with the recruiting tools available to um, that the o-line level of athletes are at least a 7/10 when compared to the average FCS-level o-lineman.

couldn't of said it better myself. :thumb:

Way to many coaches on E-Griz pretending to know what our offense is trying to do.....me also.

Even a rookie female football fan understands the run lanes were all full. With our small little running back trying to bull his way through some mean 285 lb. players, not a yard could be gained. With a constant barage of LB blitzing it is safe to toss the ball over the middle or over to quick slant routes. Gus was going to be good at that because of his great height, he needed to get a softer touch on the throw but I think that was coming.

Moving forward we now have a quicker QB that can run the ball. (If he goes forward) We need to see some of that to keep the Defense honest. I think we will see a change in what we are doing on offense. The QB needs to help himself and keep the defense thinking. No use changing the play like we did against Poly as they showed blitz and Gus changed the play and so did they. We fell into the basic 101 trap and lost. Liberty simply put one or two backers on the line and dared us to throw short. We couln't. We didn't. To win this game we better learn quick as Jerome will not let us off the hook. Also take some risk and toss to EH and others a pass even when they seem covered. Chad looks decent throwing the long ball so let the ball fly. The short routes are money but our receivers are far above the defensive players abilities. After all this they won't expect a run and then and only at that time will we be able to run.

After this game we can all say we told you so. I'm first in line. I was just joking about the female rookie. Not sure I know of one.

Now they are transitioning back to something more akin to Pflu's blocking scheme and they're struggling again. Face facts, they are going to pass two-thirds of the time regardless. The only thing that would change that is having a great line/backs that can just impose their will whenever. Be nice to have when you need it, but Stitt isn't going to change it. Said it when Delaney changed it, and saying it now - they don't have the horses to make this thing work right now. But they will certainly keep trying.

I like old Johnny boy but I hate his game so so much. Watching his running style drives me fucking bonkers....I wouldnt mind having him in on passing downs and screen plays...but anything other than that please have a real RB on the field.
