LG versus Austin Peay

I can't get anything off of gogriz.com, so I went over to the Austin Peay University athletic site and came across a radio feed. LG ahead 34 - 28 with 19:01 left in the game. Listening to the Austin Peay announcers they sound pretty impressed with Carly Selvig. They cite her at 6'3" but with her wing span they say she plays like she's 6'8" or 6'9," with four blocked shots already in the First Half alone. Go Griz!!!

Don't know if the link will work or not, but: http://www.letsgopeay.com/watch/#2Live=96&_suid=14191340884640526474921714605" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(have to tab the 'Audio' link under the advertised game in order to activate the 'Audio')

LG ahead 48 - 35 with less that 14:00 left in the game.

Now 51 - 37.

57 - 37 LG ahead with 11:01 left in the game.

LG ahead 59 - 45 with 7:49 left.

LG 69 - 52 @ 4:29

Do we have Big Sky Conf. referees on this game? Throughout the listening to the Austin Peay announcers I've not heard one complaint about the refereeing. Seems strange.

LG 71 - 54 with 3:21 left.

Austin Peay announcers citing Montana as a 'very good team;' a perennial NCAA Tournament participant. A 'very well loved athletic dept' at Montana; mentioning the success of the football team, etc.

Final 83 - 62 LG.

That's hard to believe that an opponent's announcer would be that objective. The Lady Griz seem to be jelling at right time. To me it was the most complete game I've seen in a long time. Particularly impressive was rebounding from Selvig and Reichman. Sorry the latter spelling. Maggie was a demon on the boards and with great help from Carly. They can be a real factor in the Big Sky this year.

Yeah, it was rather refreshing. I only got in on their broadcast from the halftime onwards but the most of it all was but the play-by-play and no reference to the referees whatsoever, rather complimentary of the Univ. of Montana and the success that the Griz have had, etc. Mentioning, as above, and the football prowess being in the FCS Playoffs numerous times. The both of the announcers, The Voice of the Governors as one put it, were seemingly quite sincere in their appraisals and respect. Pretty nice coming from a team from Tennessee and the likes that they have surrounding them back there.

I mean, it wasn't like some BSC announcers for other teams than the Griz babbling away about how..."we got robbed,., that should have been a foul, the other team ain't worth diddly routine," that is generally par for the course. These guys were quite professional and called the play-by-play with no accompanying sneers and curses whatsoever. Really amazing. Some of the BSC announcers, not the Griz ones, of course, can take a lesson from these guys and learn how to actually call a game as a visiting guest. Makes the game so much more enjoyable. IMHO
