Let the healing begin

After a week of dualing threads between "heartless players" vs "fickled fans" it was great to watch the Griz hitting on all cylinders tonight leaving the troublesome cats in dust of Brick Breeden to think about their first round loss to Portland State. And thusly providing the best possible semifinal scenario of playing wounded Nothern Colorado on neutral court without one of their better players.

I have to admit I've been someone critical of Tinkle in past but what we witnessed was hopefully a new beginning particularly in weaker areas such as Staudacher not driving, Young averaging more turnoves then minutes, Qvale not going hard to basketball, not working the ball inside with extra passes to go inside outside as Tinkle constantly preaches. All those demons exorcised seemed at least for one night. Hopefully will be a stepping stone to a Big Sky Tournament championship. Nice Wayne and the Griz.

It was a really fun game to watch, that's for sure.

Just one gripe though... I'm not sure why Young seems to get labeled as someone who commits a lot of turnovers... Selvig, Johnson, Ward, Cherry, Stockton and Banny all average more turnovers per minute than Young does (Selvig actually averages the most per minute). The only players that average less are Stauds, Taylor, Qvale and McGillis.

It was really nice to see Young get some minutes this game. When he's playing with confidence he's a hell of a scorer.

I did not mean to infer that Young was turnover machine. I any excess turnovers were caused by lack of playing time and perhaps not playing the role he did in JCs and high school. He's next years candidate to relace AJ.
