Put him away for life in Texas.
Put him away for life in Texas.
Here is the local story that I had posted in the other thread:F.T.C. said:Yeah, they changed the story after I posted. It originally said he was trying to enter Canada, so it makes more sense now. But seriously, you would think he would have called first or something, but he appears to be lacking a little in the common sense department...

If the Canadian authorities don't detain you for extradition, it works like this:
- You show up at the border crossing
- Customs officers check your passport
- They have you come inside, because they can see that there is a fugitive warrant for your arrest
- They cuff you and throw you into the "Wet Room" for a search
- They hold you for the local authorities to come and get you and "sort it all out"
- They call the county sheriff, which is the Whatcom County Sheriff here
- The sheriff comes to get you when they can get around to it
- You are arrested and booked into the local county jail
I know this because I went through the process about 1-1/2 years ago before they discovered that they had the wrong guy and let me go.
Leaf had been in Vancouver since November going through rehab. He hadn't been "running from the law." He went to rehab there to get away from the media. Most people in Vancouver don't know who DD is, let alone Leaf.
There is way too much speculation about this and not enough facts. However, Leaf is still a dumbass.
David2 said:Ryan Leaf's is a tragic story, and it probably began when he was growing up. I'm not a psychologist, but at some point his parents, teachers, and coaches realized this kid had football talent and succumbed to his every wish. He's a spoiled brat, and now he and his family are paying the price. I also blame all those teachers/coaches he had in school, who apparently never took this kid aside & said, "Look...." No one, apparently, ever penalized him or corrected his attitude. He never had the chance to learn about his limitations and how to overcome them. He thought he had no limitations, because of his talent, which is enormous. I'll never forget the video clip I saw of him berating his Washington State coach. What? Can you imagine any player berating Bobby Hauck the way Leaf berated his coach? BTW, how would Bobby have handled Ryan Leaf?
I don't know the people who dealt with him in his growing up. I assume there were many, but, you know, it always gets back to the parents. If he worked during summers in HS, I speculate that an employer would simply let him go because of his attitude and/or incompetence, with no feedback to the parents, and maybe that's a wrong interpretation. But, in Leaf's case, he needed a village that he never got.
Ryan Leaf is a victim. He is a victim of a sports intoxicated public, esp. in MT, where there is such need for "national exposure." It's as if he was seen as the second coming of Dave Dickenson. He's an example of a sports culture run amok. Most kids, thank god, can handle it and have their heads on straight. Ryan Leaf, somehow, did not. Football did not make Ryan Leaf; it destroyed him.
David2 said:Leaf was berating Mike Price, which shocked me. It was on the sidelines during a game. I immediately wondered why Price didn't bench Leaf for that. It was a shameful performance, out in public, no less. Price probably should have kicked him off the team for such insubordination. I don't know how I saw that clip, but I did.
