Wait, why is Cruzado so much better? Just because we don't like Engstrom?

Your answer can best be found in talking with persons in the MSU administration as I have. Students too speak highly of Waded Cruzado as a positive leader...but for openers consider that over the past two semesters while UM suffered an enrollment loss of roughly 1,200 students MSU experienced a significant increase in their student numbers.

As for Gaeilge 1, struggling to connect the dots between football and Main Hall, consider the effects of the revenue lost because of plunging student enrollment. The resulting budget cuts are being felt all across the board from classroom courses and faculty positions to athletics. Everybody's ox is being gored because of UM's ineffectual "leadership."

And with a rubber stamp BOR in charge there's little reason to expect things to change. In the meantime, UM is being held hostage by a clueless despot...

Could be but even Cruzado couldn't have fixed the mess Dennison and Foley created in very short order, and that has nothing to do with Football.

Cruzado's predecessor, Geoff Gamble, was also a very strong leader at MSU and laid much of the foundation for Cruzado to achieve success as a University President.

Thats true as well. We have had piss poor leadership in main hall for longer than I care to remember. When the idiot going out more or less picks his successor, its NOT going to turn out well. BUT that being said RE has pretty much cleaned house. He "look" good considering he is primed to move on, and I'd bet a dollar he's looking. He's garnering WAY to much praise. And pissing of the athletic crowd is always a good thing.

Some of the house cleaning was done by a person without a clue of how to run a successful university. I don't think he has the ability to see the big picture of how things work together and how one decision in athletics can affect another area of the University. He caved to media pressure. Some dumb decision making at the time and hindsight supports that statement. Plain and simple, RE is in over his head. He would be good Provost and that is what he should go back to. We need someone with way more vision than RE.

I can't think of person in his cabinet thats gone , who should have stayed....... He will likely a provost again at a much larger university. We have needed a president for A VERY long time. IF King George and RE could have been made into one president, we may have had one that was "pretty good" The sad thing is we are much better off with RE than if Dennison had stayed around.

UMGriz75 gives an accurate description of the rotten to the core hiring practices developed by George Dennison and further refined by Engstrom. These corrupt gentlemen get away with anything because they have no management review of their decisions. Oh well, seems to be consistent with our national leadership, so who gives a damn?

Yes but "to whom much is given, much will be expected". Clearly RE is given too much.
