6-foot-4, 245-pound Power forward Gordon Chase from Sheridan Community College has commited to Montana. He is rated by Jucojunction.com 29th in the country among returning JC players this year. More later

Sounds like a great get! I'm assuming this is him on the front page of http://www.jucojunction.com Sounds like a big powerful guy, 6-4, 245.

The GRIZ coaching staff is off to a great start with 2006 recruiting. This guy had a tremendous JC freshman year at Sheridan CC (which is also where Kamarr came from)! :D

comments from sheridan's coach about chase. (scroll down to the seventh item.)

impressive job of recruiting, and this from a doubting citay who questioned whether krysko could sustain the recruiting standards set by kennedy. not only has he done so, he seems to be doing it with quality kids. the incoming freshman class is stellar, even without staudacher, and this next class seems to be shaping up as a great one as well, with chase and the seven-footer from australia on board, which would make that our third straight quality class. as soon as we add a quality underclass point guard to this group, i'll really be pumped.

I looked at the Bobcat post mentioned by City. How come MissoulaCat says he's 6'5" when he thinks the Cats are going to get him, and only 6'4" when the Griz get him. He looked taller than 6'4" to me.

The same reason that Griz fans are posting how the Griz will beat Oregon State this week end, the same reason MSU fans list Dissly at 6-4 1/2", the same reason U.S citizens say that being in Iraq is serving our greater good, or the same reason republicans are claiming Bush is doing a great job on handling the Katrina situation! It is called rose colored glasses. We want to see the best in who we care for.

Welllllllllllllllllll except that last one about Republican / Bush / Kartina ......... .............those guys are just dumb!

By the way Montana, I hear is also recruiting "6-5" Gordon Brown also from Sheridan CC. A small forward who played last year at Coffeyville KS JC.

From his coach:

"He's a very athletic wing, really really athletic," Davidson said. "He can really shoot the ball well. He had a good summer, he's working hard getting stronger. There's no question he'll be a mid-major player."

Beating Oregon State would be quite an accomplishment, since it's Oregon that the Griz are playing. :D

Lke i said rose colored glasses  or faces in this case!!!

There was an article in today's Missoulian about Gus Chase. I ask this question only because the Missoulian article did not state he would first play in 2006. Given the availability of the Staudacher scholarship, is there any chance he is coming this season?

He goes by Gus. He turned down Santa Barbara, Wyo. and MSU, I believe. Apparenlty a very good player. Originally from Baltimore. Nice guy.

Sorry but Gus never turned down Wyo. He was looked at by Wyoming but for some reason the coaching staff never felt he could not fit in and I sure think that was a big mistake by Wyomings coaching staff as he is one hell of a player. Montana got a jewel as far as I'm concerned and good luck to Gus and I am sure he will do a good job for the Griz. Sorry that I'm so leate in posting this but was having trouble accessing the board.

TOUCHDOWN
Sheridan, Wy.
