Lady Griz

What a fun team to watch! Its like watching a ballet of passes,assists,inside/outside/ short range/longrange you name it the Lady Griz can do it! The Lady Griz are deep. The bench could have started last night and beat Weber. Misty is going to be a real pain in the butt for a lot of teams.
Whenever Gardipee takes the court good things happen!
The gals are shooting consistently well this year,at least so far. Last year game by game you just never
knew it seemed like when one player was off then they all were, even then tho they could still get a win.
They respond well to Selvigs on going game adjustments. Some teams crater, get confused, and there game starts falling apart. They can't counter and Selvigs a master at it.
This team, and it seems like all of Selvigs teams are happy teams. They enjoy the game and get mad
at themselves for screwing up and continually strive to get better and it shows.
The future is bright for the Lady Griz.

I see Sarah Ena as the big difference. Everyone has to defend the middle. Now that she can go to the hoop or do the pull-up jumper, defenses can't simply glue to Mandy or Sonja. We can debate whether Sara is the best player on the court, but she makes life pleasant for everyone else on her team.

I want to see Misty perform like that with any consistency. She had some magic moments last night, but those are the first I have seen. Is she having a "break through" or was that a fluke. I wish her well - it just was a different Misty than I had seen.

I was also impressed with the way Stephanie has been shooting the ball from 3. I agree - they are a fun group to watch. I just suspect that I won't live long enough to every see a player with as quick a release as Sonja Rogers - on any team.

That was a nice crowd last night of just over 4,000. Perhaps Weber had that many for the men's game, but I assume the rest of the conference didn't add up to 4,000 on the women's side.

Here is an fyi for all that is interested.

Mandy Morales is 5 points away from becoming the second highest scoring player in Lady Griz history. Has 1693 points total. Holly Tyler has 1698 points. Shannon Cates 2,172 total is safe for some time. There isn't any current Lady Griz on pace to beat her.

Sonya Rogers - if she scores her average will get into the top 10 all time scorers. May have a hard time catching Jeanne Mcnulty. If she keeps nailing her free throws like she has been, should become the Lady Griz's best free throw shooter percentage wise in a career. Joanna Clossen has the best freethrow percentage career wise at 84.7%. Sonya is shooting 84.5% in her career. Sonya is shooting 86.4% this year so far. Knocking on the door for breaking Lauren Cooper's single season Freethrow shooting record. But, I don't think anybody is going to catch Lauren Cooper's freethrow shooting record for a single season. Almost 90%, well, 89.6% to be exact. I do hope Sonya can prove me wrong, though.
