Lady Griz

What an ugly game! Kudos on the win but the girls showed some glaring weaknesses in handling on ball pressure. We may struggle this year containing an athletic team that can also shoot. Luckily Nevada only had athleticism sans shooting touch so we were able to sit in the zone the entire game. Shante Nance-Johnson took a big step backwards in this game and made some bonehead plays, I would have loved to see Tianna Ware come in and give her a break. Lauren Beck had a great game, without her we would have been blown out in the first half. She was the offense for the first 15.
Good win!

Nice observations Explosive 1.

Mandy got tired with the pressure on her bringing the ball up court. Could Tiana handle that pressure? I think so.

Robin seems to have a weak bench this year. There are enough "Players" to keep the program at a top level, but he sure doesn't have the depth Tinkle does.

I would play Tiana all I could. I liked what I saw of the Wyoming girl (forgot her name). She held her own and looks like a player for a redshirt freshman. She and Tiana need more playing time.

I don't know how I will survive next year not being able to watch Sonja Roger's amazingly quick release. We will never see another like it.

Anyone hear how bad the injury was to Robison? I assume an ankle sprain but it was hard to tell.

Sarah Ena seems to be gaining an inside shooting touch. She has always done well from the mid-distances, but has had difficulty finishing. Love her ability and automatic willingness (need) to go to the hoop.

That wyoming girl is Stephanie Stender. She is getting more time as the season is going. She wouldn't have been have been in this game if this was one of the first five games this year.

Tiana Ware is going to be a good player but she hasn't played enough minutes against a team of any significance yet except against Maryland. Majority minutes came in when Lady Griz were way up and there wasn't much pressure for her except to get some playing experience. She played point once or twice against Hampton, and some against that NAIA team played on Dec. 20th. Not enough to make me comfortable to put her in very much. Right now, if Mandy gets real tired, have Sonya handle point. Sonya always does when they want to post up Mandy. Lauren Beck has handled point also and can handle it.

Robison has an ankle sprain. At first I thought it was her knee. Krista Redpath on post game show on radio thought at first was the knee. But, thankfully, it was just a sprained ankle. This is Robison's fouurth year here and would hate to see her experience a set back like experiencing an ACL. I think it is unlikely she will be available this weekend unless they do a real good tape job. At least good enough to give Britney a couple minutes of rest. But, I suspect Jessa Loman Linford is going to be getting a lot more minutes coming in for both Lohman and Ena.

Shaunte Nance-Johnson scares me everytime she handles the ball. She is athletic and all that but she isn't as good of a ball handler as Mandy. Not even close. She is also two or three inches to short. Has a tough time finishing shots.
