I am pretty sure you spent most of your time at the concession stand since you saved some $$ on the 2 for 1 admission.

Has anyone seen the Brekke girl and is she related to Lee Brekke?

SOPHOMOREsharpshooter Kelsi Brekke broke her own Helena Capital girls' basketball single-game scoring record with 41 points in Thursday night's 69-63 overtime victory over Sentinel High in Missoula.

Brekke was 10-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and made 16 of 19 free throws.

The effort boosted Brekke's 13-game scoring average from 16.3 to 18.2. She ranked second in Class AA scoring, behind Missoula Big Sky sophomore Joslyn Tinkle, entering the game.

She previously broke the school record with a 33-point effort in Capital's 72-59 victory over Big Sky on Jan. 12.

Brekke was held to 12 points in Capital's 42-39 loss to Helena High on Saturday.

As only a sophomore she's obviously a very nice player. I also think she's a good softball player, too. She can hit the three when left open and really attacks the basket to get to the free throw line. It's interesting that she plays for Billy Pilgeram now in that he's seemingly given her the same green light that he had in high school. Why this is notable is that you don't usually see one girl taking about 40% of a team's shots for a game in the AA compared to Class C (and Plains where Billy played) which has happened in quite of few of the Bruins games this year. I understand that Helena High didn't give her many clean looks or room to drive which looks to be the most successful strategy at this point.

Two losses by Davidson, and losses by Gonzaga and Wyoming hurt the Lady Griz in the RPI this week.

It took their SOS down to 172. Their RPI is smack dab in the middle of that bubble watch now at 42.

It would have been nice having those 3 teams count as quality wins come tournament selection.

As for the top 25 rankings, I think Montana is getting plenty of love. UW-Green Bay being ranked is a little far-fetched. This is probably the only team ahead of the Lady Griz who I don't think deserve to be.

I would rank the following teams ahead of the Lady Griz who are currently ranked lower:

Mississippi
South Florida
Pittsburgh
Xavier
Auburn
BYU
Western Kentucky
Temple
Iowa State
NC State

So all in all, I think the Lady Griz are getting more than a fair shake.
