Lady Griz vs Eastern Thread

A win here today makes up for our two conference losses. These ladies are fun to watch. Crappy first half down 32-22. Eastern Basketball court is as bad as the Red Field. We shoot the three ball as good as anyone in nation, but they have some rec league type of three point lines going on here? I think it makes a difference. Espy just took a three beyond the NBA three point line, and was short obviously because they have crazy lines going on. Stupid looking floor. No excuses, but as a player your not looking down to see what of the three lines your shooting from. Our defense sucks. Eastern is good. Need to win. Go Griz

Defense needs to improve some more, but it doesn't suck. Far improved than it was earlier this season. Held a team averaging 72 points a game down to 61 points is actually pretty good. and they actually held a team below 40% shooting for the game which doesn't happen to often.

That second quarter was brutal. It's my fault, I turned on the game when they were up by 1. They then promptly stopped hitting shots and got down by 10 at half. I stopped watching and they outscored Eastern in the second half, but not enough.

Well, they tend to have at least 1 bad quarter each game, either offensively, Defensively, or both. I would say, up to this point of the season, the best defensive game the Lady Griz played. While some may think the Lady Griz defense sucked today, I see improvement. The defense the lady Griz played was good enough to keep the team in the game while shooting only 33% for the game and against a team that scores, as said 72 points a game and averages shooting 42+%. Lady Griz held them to 38%.

A couple of weeks ago, I would never think the Lady Griz would come close to winning a game shooting the way they did today. I also liked the way they tried to get it into Gfeller inside more in the second half which helped them get back into contention in this game. First half was having everyone standing around the arc.

You are right TrueGriz. My word usage “sucked” was bad. I love this team, and they are still getting better. Their biggest down fall was giving up uncontested layups. They are for sure getting better, and they definitely are moving their feet better. It is the difference right now between being number one vs three in conference. Good come back today though.
