Lady Griz v. PSU

No, they really weren't.

But we knew this was going to be a serious rebuild and learning year. Not too many programs could finish 2nd in the conference with their worst and youngest team in recent memory.

Thanks to the Lady Griz seniors. We're proud of what you accomplished at Montana.

(as they just said on the broadcast, "We've been spoiled for 28 years". Amen).

The LG just never were in the game -- but, you know, they never quit playing either. And that says something for both the team and the coach.

That was the first game where I saw the Lady Griz dominated on the boards which I thought that I would never see. Seem like this year UM, ISU and EWU were set up to pound it inside and run their set offenses, while everybody else in the conference was set to run an uptempo offense.

Seems like this tournament is coming down to rebounding and 3 pointers. Portland State was flat out deadly from the 3 point line.

There is a ton of talent coming onto this team next year with Carly Selvig, Torrie Cahill, etc that will vault the Griz to the top again.

Next year.......Lexie Nelson!!!!

And Torrie Hill

I would say with a greater than 50% chance Hill will be redshirting next year. Suffered an ACL and with ACLs you never know what is going to happen. Some players after ACLs lose a step. Some may regain it after a long period. Skyla Cisco regained it after her ACL injury during her sophomore season but never was up to full speed until her senior year. But, I say she is evidence that they can regain their quickness. But, just saying, some players do not.

I am also hoping Ashley Ferda can be at full strength next year, she gets a medical redshirt, and still has 4 years to play. She has had an ACL and a foot injury.

You wouldn't quit either with Selvig yelling in your face. :D

Thanks goes out to the Lady Griz for a very tough season.
Rebuilding year, injuries, rare on the road defeats,(road record was a flip of home record, how weird)
As a very supportive fan and to speak for all your fans ( If I may) Congratulations to you all.
Seniors we will miss you but we will be psyched to see the new crop and the returning Lady's in 2010/2011
Up With Montana and Go Lady Griz

And "Torry" Hill - while we are at it, might as well learn the spelling - we will use it a lot. Would have been fun to see her play against Carley Selvig and Sidney last night (Sidney won).

You mean Jordan Sullivan and Sidney? If your going to correct someone, make sure you do not make any mistakes yourself. Spelling is the least of your problems when you don't get your names correct and you also spell a players name wrong.

And it is Jordan Sullivan. She scored 17 points for Sidney. Also had 10 rebounds.

And also, if your going to correct someone's spelling of a players name, you should also. You mispelled Selvig's name. Her name is Carly, not Carley. She plays for Dawson County High.

The three point shot is becoming increasingly effective, makeable,as compared to earlier times.
Girls coming out of highschool these days are making a higher % of them. This will cause increasing
problems with zone defenses as the LGriz are finding out. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think there's any doubt it's becoming a much larger weapon in women's BB, and top three point shooting really seemed to be the difference in the BSC this year. But I think more than anything, that highlighted that the league was guard-heavy this year and weak on inside players.

That said, if you field a team without a few players who can fill it up from outside these days in women's college BB, you're going to struggle to win games.

How does next years crop compare to this years freshmen. I believe that this years freshmen crop were the stars of their respective schools in their home states last year. And our incoming girls are the stars of their current high schools. Does anybody know how next years freshmen did at the AAU tournaments last summer.
