After watching Boise State and MSU tonight I think that the LG should be more than favored for Sunday's upcoming game. They should also be heavily favored in the three games following Boise State. Colorado State, Portland and Denver have had some early struggles as they sit 1-5, 3-4 (with a 4 pt. win over Sac St.), and 2-3 respectively. That means that the LG could be heading into the matchup against a very, very good Gonzaga team (currently 8-1 with only loss to Marquette by 3) sitting at 8-2. After that game, the LG play MSU-Northern and then just have their BSC slate. Portland State and Northern Colorado might be the only contenders in the BSC this year. It's possible that the LG could go 25-3 with a really great SOS since their only losses came to Maryland, South Dakota State, and Gonzaga (all possible top 25 teams) and with quality wins that include Wyoming, Illinois, Oregon, and Boise State. Now, I know there still are a lot of games to play but should the LG make it that far, I think the LG get some respect and finally draw a better seed at the tourney.
Like I said, there is still a lot of ball to play but was wondering what people's thoughts were on how the challenging schedule should help the LG down the road....
(Oh and does anyone else think Selvig might've been trying to persuade a certain local player this year with this schedule that the LG not only can play the big names from some of the big FBS conferences but also beat them? Well, I guess the LG have beaten the likes of Florida State, Gonzaga, Washington State, Oregon State and others in the past but this year's OOC schedule seems especially lopsided with good teams.)
