gotta like the future for the lady griz, even without tinkle. here's why.

1. looks like they've got a good shot at getting what probably will be the top three players in montana next year--sullivan, hill and selvig. that would assure consecutive strong recruiting classes.

2. hill, together with hildal and ferda, would give the ladies three strong point guard candidates--and i always say, you can never have too many point guards. the absence of quick ball handlers at the point has embarrassed us in recent ncaa appearances.

3. with the two 'ships we saved from this year, we hopefully will look to address our one remaining weakness--height and bulk in the paint.

4. selvig has now cured my long-standing criticism by going out and recruiting african-american talent. look for tianna ware to give us the explosive athleticism we've lacked in past teams.

all in all, exciting prospects for our lady griz. may we extend our horizons beyond bozeman, portland and flagstaff.

The Five Montana Girls that the Lady Griz have offered (so far) are.

Carly Selvig 6-2 Glendive
Jordan Sullivan 6-1 Sidney
Torry Hill 5-8 Anaconda
Lexie Nelson 5-7 to 5-9 Butte
Jackie Mee 6-1 Libby

nice two-part series on the montana women, mslacat. much appreciated.

yeah, earlier you'd speculated that the ladies were holding back scholarships this year, perhaps to go after some of the players from the washington a.a.u. team--which led me to hope there might be a tall tree or two in the bunch. but if we get all five of the montana women--and that prospect looks good--it seems the lady griz are right back to their traditional twin roles of "big sky power" and "ncaa patsy." no?

Nelson and Hill, both from southwest montana...26 miles apart, are no-brainers...they can score with the best of them. (A couple of Sonya Rogers types in those two, who also played in Butte a bit)

A in the future player that I hope the Lady Griz land, if she continues to develop, is Big Sky's younger Tinkle. She has nice size and athleticism...did a great job guarding Nelson in this years Class AA re-match state championship game in Butte.
