Lady Griz Pretty Much Has Big Sky Conference Wrapped Up

With the win last night over MSU, The Lady Griz pretty much wrapped up the Big Sky Regular season. It would be a total collapse for them not to win it.

Heck, The Lady Griz can lose to both Eastern Washington and Weber State and win it, as long as they win all the rest of the games. I do not see them losing any of those games. EWU and WSU are basically the only 2 teams with the firepower and defense to beat the Lady Griz, unless Lady Griz have one of those games where the basket shrinks on them, and they have a problem communicating to each other in that zone defense of theirs.

If the Lady Griz do win all the rest except for EWU and WSU, and finish with a tie with either one of those two teams, the only tie breaker there will be is the RPI. As of now, the Lady Griz have a pretty good lead in RPI in just about every site I have seen that calculates the RPI. That includes www.collegerpi.com, www.realtimerpi.com, and www.teamrankings.com.

Weber State is the only team that has any chance of catching the Lady Griz in RPI, but not sure if Lady Griz would drop that much if they lose either EWU or WSU. There is no chance for EWU to overtake UM in RPI, unless Lady Griz lose 4 or more of the remaining 6 games. If WSU and Lady Griz tie in RPI, then coin flip. But, I do not see The Lady Griz losing any home games this year.

Thus, Lady Griz will win the regular season championship for the second season in a row.

I should mention that it is mathematically impossible for The Lady Griz, EWU, and WSU to tie with two losses. EWU was upset by Sac State. But, I realized that if EWU wins out, which will mean beating WSU and Lady Griz, and ties Lady Griz with 2 losses, EWU would have a tie breaker if WSU or any team higher than than Sac State is the team that gave the Lady Griz the second loss.
