Lady Griz intra-squad game Tuesday

Impressed with Espenmiller-McGraw. Looks like she may have a chance to fill the void left by Fatkin. Different players, but looks like she can score it.

Can someone who attended give a summary of their thoughts and impressions of the scrimmage? Much appreciated.

Well, The coach stated they worked on defense 70% of the time, but talk is cheap. Defense wasn't as evident as to the amount of time they spent on it in practice. 42 to 42 was the score which was an equivalent to the playing half a game. Coach had the two teams evenly matched.

Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw played well and should get a lot of minutes. I think Macy Huard will eventually be a star for the Lady Griz. Better than her sister who had the second best 3pt % last year, although the Lady Griz weren't so great last year, especially near the end of the season. Hopefully, the Lady Griz are better this year. Maggie certainly looked decent from the 3.

In days past (say 10 years ago), it was easy to spot the players who stood out. Now, everyone is a player so nobody really really stands out. As far as the new players go, people who know hoops (and who sit by me) say that Lincoln will be a star. I was impressed with Maggie E McGraw who looked very comfortable. MJ Bruno brings a lot of hustle. I think Imogene Greenslade will be a real presence in the key at 6-4. I think that all of the newcomers could be starters - glad that I don't have to pick the starting 5.

Usually I can spot what I consider to be recruiting mistakes. I don't see any. I have to think we will have the most talent top to bottom in the Big Sky, but I guess we have to wait to see. Pardon me if I messed up any names. Holsinger certainly has the talent, now he has to mold a team with an identity.

I am curious to see what knowledgeable fans think, such as Grizzlyjournal.

I agree totally with you. All the new women you mentioned had a great scrimmage. They outperformed the returning expected solid contributors; Konig, Stump, Gfeller, Bartsch. I have seen a few practices, Bruno hustles all the time. Lincoln was a great recruit and will have a great career at UM. Espenmiller-McGraw is a great scorer. She needs a nickname, tho. Announcing her full name after a bucket is just too much of a mouth full for Denny Bedard.

I haven't seen her play so don't know if this fits, but how about EMP? Formatted the "P" like that to show the attitude/swag/emphasis needed when calling her name. But maybe more in Ace's wheelhouse/character/style than Denny Bedard's.

EMP like an electromagnetic pulse, her energy burst shuts others down...

Sorry missed this! Didn't realize the tweet had video. Thanks for the link to some additional footage!

Just an FYI if anyone wants to embed a tweet so a video shows instead of a link in an egriz thread, either: 1.) select the tv image button (above the box where you type your post, to the left of "spoil" button) and 2.) type or paste link address of specific tweet or Youtube vid between the opening and closing "media" tags OR 1.) highlight link address of specific tweet or Youtube vid and 2.) select the tv image button...remember to click outside the "media" tags if you have more to type for either method...so example syntax text when posting would be:

Of course, Shaun I think linked the individual tweets together by replying so it makes it look a little messy when embedding...

Man, it would've been nice to have some stats for this game, especially shooting percentages and 3 pointers. I think I counted 9 three pointers in the Kyle Hansen video, which seems really good for a shortened scrimmage.

That would be great! From these clips looks like: uptempo flow, good passing/assists, the scoring in/out of the paint was magnificent! I would have liked to have seen a little more of that D, but I believe that with the coaching., will make this team more complete, confident and strong!
