Lady Griz - Idaho Game

Ladies up 63-54 at the end of the 3rd.

Lisa Keifer has had some good minutes and scored some buckets tonight but went down in a heap while guarding Bea near the end of the 3rd. Looks like a knee injury. Hope she’s OK.

Beyoncé Bea is incredible.
I'll second this. She's already announced she'll return to Idaho for her fifth year. Put up 32 and 40 in their two games against the Griz this year.

Looks like we may have a three way tie for first in the Big Sky with Montana State, Northern Arizona, and Sacramento State (followed by EWU and then the Lady Griz).

Starting five had solid games. Fatkin was great. She and Bartsch had double doubles. Really need Libby Stump to rediscover her shooting touch in time for the Big Sky tournament.

Yeah, Bea is the obvious Offensive POY for the big sky. Only other considerations would be Sac's Dean or Natabou but even they are pretty far behind. NAU and MSU are both good teams but don't really have any superstars. ISU's Bourne has been pretty important to her team but she just doesn't have the stats or team performance to be in the conversation. Bea's just so versatile which makes her dominant if she wants to be. I would've liked to have seen more Bartsch and Fatkin guarding her. Not only for the better matchup athletically/agility-wise but also to keep Gfeller out of foul trouble and help her confidence/mental state/frustrations. Kiefer also did respectively in the short time she was matched up with Bea.

Tough draw with potential EWU, NAU, Cats/Sac/Idaho in three straight days. Matchup-wise, EWU might be the toughest team of the bunch.

Tough matchup with EWU to start the tourney and if Lady Griz can win that one it actually gets easier from there. Big Sky stats show Bartsch as #4 in total rebounds and if she had started more games she may well have been #1. Next two years are going to be interesting for her--she is a great athlete

While it's not like NAU is an unbeatable #1 seed (as evidenced by their 5 conference losses including a LG win in Flagstaff as well as a 2 point game in Missoula), NAU's high energy, pace of play style makes them probably the least desirable opponent in a multi day tournament format.
