Lady Griz back in 1st

The Lady Griz stomp EWU behind 28 from Mandy. Coupled with the cats beating the PSU women (see letdown) the LG are back in a tie for 1st place. Take care of PSU in Missoula and the LG could host yet another BSC Tourney.

Sometimes I actually like the kitten girls, they beat PSU ViQueens in OT! :o

Lady Griz really did not need MSU to beat PSU. If Lady Griz won out, they would have had the tie breaker over PSU. Lady Griz have a better RPI.
But, since PSU lost, all the better.

After looking at the score, I would say, PSU didn't have a letdown. Scored 90 points. Giving up 94 points, it indicates to me they concentrated so much in defending the Lady Griz, they forgot they had to play the Cats this week. Of Course, the Cats can't play defense, so maybe PSU had a let down, but I say they just didn't prepare defensively for the Cats well enough.

Well, that takes a little sting away from the PSU loss...was kind of hoping the LG could go through BSC play undefeated to garner a better seed in the tourney. I know, 7-1/18-4 is still awesome but I believe this year's team (more so than other recent LG teams), has the ability to hang with top tier programs from around the nation, and any losses in the BSC could mean the difference between a 8-11 seed and a 12-16 seed (very unfavorable since the top seeds like UConn, Baylor, Oklahoma are so much better than the rest of the field).

LG showed their potential and ability when they hung with a very good Maryland team (13 pt. loss) who has been in the middle of the top 25 all year. I have heard a few different disappointed LG players state that that game wasn't their best effort or execution even. They also had good opportunities to knock off South Dakota State and Gonzaga (and probably should have) but just couldn't get it done in those bigger games. This is kind of reminiscent of past LG years, where they will go through the year dominating the competition (even some big FBS schools that are well-known like Florida State, Ole Miss, Miami, Syracuse, Memphis, Boise State, Utah, Brigham Young, Washington State, Oregon, etc., etc.) and then won't show up in the big games at season's end.

But maybe one conference loss won't harm the LG that much. Look at South Dakota State...also in a poor conference (RPI-wise), but took a loss to Oakland a few weeks back and only dropped a spot or two in each of the top 25 polls...
