Lady Griz won as expected.
Every player played at least 15 minutes.
5 players were in double figures.
Lady Griz were lead in scoring by Katie Edwards with 16 points.
Dana Conway and Laura Cote scored 14 points each. Dana had 7 rebounds, Cote had 3 steals.
Tamara Guardipee scored 13 points, and 11 rebounds.
Sonya Rogers scored 11 points, 5 assists, and 5 assists.
Sonya Rogers is playing a lot of minutes now, which is good. If she learns from her mistakes and never makes any bad mistakes more than once, she will become one very good point guard for the Lady Griz.
Today Sonya made one mistake I believe she will never make again. Have to say though, she wasn't alone in this mistake. After the Lady Bears made a basket, all but Sonya went back to the other end of the court. Sonya took the ball and inbound the ball before looking who she was inbounding it to first, and passed it to a Lady Bear player. Lady Bear player did miss the shot and eventually Lady Bears had a free throw. I think Sonya will now look first before passing the ball in from now on. But, hopefully, the other Lady Griz player who is supposed to stay and take the inbound pass won't head down court before ball is inbounded.
Lady Griz shot 47.7% (31 - 65) from the field, 81% (17 - 21) from the free throw line, and 50% (4 - 8) from the 3 pt line.
As expected, against lower division team, this game was not very intense for the fans. But, even though they held the Lady Bears to only 49 points, Lady Griz do need to work a lot more on defense. But they did hold the Lady Bears to only 5 points in the last 11 minutes, which was good. Best defense for Lady Griz so far is man to man (or should it be women to women?). But, then this is about what is expected from such a young team. Lady Griz always improve on defense as the season progresses. Wish the offense of the Griz FB team would do the same.
By December 2, against Wyoming, Mandy Morales should be back and Lady Griz offense should be much better.
