Lady Griz won a game against a fiesty little team playing with nothing to lose.
Portland has suffered quite a few injuries, their leading scorer didn't play, but for some reason, got hot behind the three point line. Well, actually, there is a reason. Lady Griz defense wasn't as good as it should.
Seems communication in their zone defense wasn't up to snuff in the first half. Second half Lady Griz did play better defense. Pilots didn't shoot as well after the half, and Lady Griz did manage to get a lead of around 13 points.
But with around 5 minutes left, the Pilots did manage to get a run going starting with a full court press. Manage to get some easy steals and baskets. They cut the lead from 13 to 2 points in about a 3 minute span. But, Lady Griz pulled it out in the end and won.
Katie Edwards lead the Lady Griz with 22 points. Was 6 - 11 from 3 point line.
Also, in double figures, Hollie Tyler had a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, Crystal Baird had 12 points, and Johanna Clossen had 10 points.
Lyndsay Monaco played all 40 minutes of the game, scored 9 points, passed for 14 assists, and let one Portland Pilot steal a ball from her for her lone turnover of the game.
