Ladies Bracketology

Charlie Creme has the Lady Griz as a 9 seed in the Dayton Region in his latest Bracketology predictions. When's the last time even a prediction had us that high?

That's impressive, a possible #9 seed, but it's also a double-sided sword. As a #9, if you happen to get past the #8 seed, what do you get? The #1 seed, which is likely Duke, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland or Connecticut or Ohio State. Ouch.

Weren't we an 8 or 9 seed when we played Texas Tech back in the mid to late 90's? I could be way off but thought I remember something like that.

Jerry Palm of collegerpi.com has Lady Griz an 8th seed last tuesday. His new one will come out tomorrow.

9th seed in 1997 when we played Texas Tech, played at stanford. Won that game and managed to beat Stanford, Lady Griz could have played in Sweet 16 in Missoula, MT. But even if Lady Griz beat Texas Tech, would have had to play the game of their lives against Stanford. Stanford pretty much blew Texas Tech out to reach the Sweet 16 that season, and played in Missoula, MT in sweet 16.

Thanks for the info! Was that the Tech team with Cheryl Swoops?

Also, back in 1994, Lady Griz played the first round in Missoula, so may have been an 8th seed then. If They weren't the team they were matched up with was the 8th seed but couldn't host for some reason. 1994 was the last year before the sub-regional format began. Prior to 1995. the first two rounds, the highest seed hosted if they were ble to pay the minimum or facilities was available.

Nope, that was the Texas Tech team that played in the West Regional in Missoula in 1993. Missoula hosted two West regionals (1993 and 1997) and one sub-regional (2004). Also hosted some first round action when Lady Griz got into the tournament when highest seed hosted.

Lady Griz are now tied for 27th in the AP poll.

Lady Griz could get back to ranked 26th in Coaches poll tomorrow. The Team that passed them last week (Texas) lossed two games, one at home. #23 Rutgers lost, but that was to #4 UConn, by only 10 points on the road.
