Kiffin Fired Today

Screw Al Davis. Im a huge broncos fan but i still hate him. Way to ruin something that is improving.

I also heard he is not giving any money to Kiffin from his contract. SUE THE BASTARD!

good god - i hope that Kiffin joins the Broncos/Chiefs/Chargers and gives Al Davis nightmares each season ala Mike Shannanan :D

But seriously. How wacky of a guy is davis? His mind is obviously going...or has gone already. The program was moving in the right direction. Kiffin was firing guys up and they were playing well. He will do really well somewhere else.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if Kiffin's scarred for life on the NFL after this experience and high-tails it back to college. In fact, he'll probably go back to that incredible UOP Tiger, Pete Carroll.

There are probably only two guys who could coach the Raiders w/o Al's interference, and one isn't likely to leave the NBC booth. The other one is Al himself. I'm just not sure if the NFL has a rule like MLB that prevents Al from doing like Ted Turner did with the Braves back in the '70s. Well, maybe another UOP guy could do it: Tom Flores. But I'm not sure he'd be willing to step out of the front office again.
 
Sounds like Tom Cable may succeed him. Yes, the same Tom Cable that won about 2 games during his 3 years as head coach at Idaho. This just keeps getting better and better.

Has anybody read Marcus Allens autobiography? If not I strongly suggest it. You will see what a POS Davis is after reading it. I have it and will mail it to anyone that is interested. Let me know.

You sure? Yes, he's run out coaches for no good reason other than they don't behave like Daryl Lamonica and go bombs away every other down. Yes, he's been known to hire thug players (i.e. Jack Tatum) and place bugs in the opposing locker room. But even with all that, there's plenty of competition:

1. George Steinbrenner (Obvious)
2. Marge Schott (Nazi sympathizer)
3. Charlie O. Finley (Dismantled the A's out of pride of personal scouting ability)
4. Donald Sterling (Cares more for status of team ownership at parties than for winning)
5. Alex G. Spanos (Ran the Chagers into the ground)
6. Donald Trump (Ran an entire viable league into non-existence)
7. Harry Frazee (Sold George Ruth to the hated Yankees to finance an off-Broadway play and started the Red Sox on a 100-year curse)
8. Jerry Jones (Fired the best NFL coach who ever lived without even bothering to tell him. Ran several others out of town over petty squabbles.)

There are probably more. But suffice it to say that Al has a TON of competition for this dubious honor.
