kick-off replacement

ok, since the kick-off (aka kick off, or kickoff) is pretty much gone, maybe it should be replaced(bqm)

my thought is to have the 'receiving' team have a player throw it out of the back of the end zone to a teammate, ala basketball after the other team scored.

anyone else have some ideation about this (bqm)

A possible replacement I've heard that will still have something like an onside kick. The team that just scored gets or 4th and 15 at their own 40. They can choose to punt (is that any safer) or they can go for it. That way they have the ability to retain possession like they do with onside kicks.
