Keenan Curran: Should he play right away?

Based on what BW told me, I am expecting he sees consistent time in the WR rotation. BW is pretty high on him. He has watched a lot more of the GRIZ this summer than I have.

I bet we'll see 4-5 true freshmen with significant minutes this season. It will be tough to keep the Calhoun brothers off the field.

Keenan Curran will undoubtedly play this year (he is good). He is not your typical in-coming freshman. He is more mature physically and mentally, because he played last year at a military prep school (where they push weight training - he put on 15 lbs) and he will turn 20 years old mid-way through this season.

Stop confusing the pedestrian fan with facts. He may "skin that smokewagon"!!

I think this is his first year of college, as he did a 5th year at the Air Force prep school last year. UM has him for 5 years, if he doesn't redshirt. Many high school kids wanting to go to the AFA, end up doing the prep school thing first. Same with the other academies.

"The Federal Way (Wash.) product who once committed to San Jose State before spending most of the past year at the United States Air Force Preparatory Academy, will transfer to Montana and join the football team in June.

Curran, who received an honorable discharge from the Air Force, will join the Grizzlies as a true freshman receiver, bringing the total number of pass catchers in first-year head coach Bob Stitt's initial recruiting class to eight."

I guess that's a little confusing in the wording then. Why would he be considered a transfer if he was a fifth-year high school senior at the AFA Prep Academy? No matter though, Stitt defintiely isn't redshirting him and he's going to be a hell of a player!

Snipits taken from interesting article: http://gazette.com/gazette-exclusive-military-academies-including-afa-face-criticism-for-using-prep-schools-to-fill-athletic-teams/article/1537071

The school's (Air Force Prep) Husky football team plays junior colleges around the region with a full schedule and a 53-member squad.

The Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., have prep school ranks brimming with future sports team stars. Nearly two-thirds of the football players at Army and Navy have prep school roots.

While Air Force prep schoolers can't practice with the academy's football team, they can practice against it. The prep school is scheduled to play the Falcons' JV squad twice. It will travel to West Point to take on Army's prep school as part of a 10-game schedule.

Prep schools operate outside NCAA rules. Technically separate, unaccredited schools of higher learning, they field sports teams that aren't required to meet eligibility requirements. Prep school students don't have to "redshirt" to gain an extra year of NCAA eligibility to accommodate their five-year military education.
