As some of you probably know, Mike Reilly, who graduated from Flathead High in 2003, led the Edmonton Eskimos to the Grey Cup title yesterday and was named MVP of the game.

Here's another interesting story on his route to the CFL. His folks, by the way, still live in Kalispell and work at Flathead High.

Reilly moved to Kalispell when he was a junior, and didn't become the starting QB until 3 games into his senior season. But then he set a record for passing yards. He ended up at Washington State for a year, then transferred to Central Washington, where he put up big numbers as the 4-year starter.

Anyway, made me curious: Anyone know if he was ever interested in the Grizzlies or the Grizzlies were interested in him?

Don't know....but I DO remember that game against Central Washington when they almost beat us.

Pretty sure Brody McKnight kicked a game winning field goal to win that, if I remember correctly.

I too remember that game against Central Washington and I was very impressed with Reilly. Our defensive line pretty much overpowered their offensive line but Reilly got rid of the ball so quickly (and accurately) that it didn't seem to make much difference. Not sure whether Beau Baldwin was their coach them or not.

A 42-yarder, to boot.

Horrible day for the Griz. FOUR lost fumbles (one returned for a TD), including 2 of the first 3 possessions. 9 penalties. 3 Sacks given up. Reilly went 21-35 for 280 and 3 TD passes. Down at one point 21-7 before storming back. Five future NFL players on that Griz squad...

Nope. He'd JUST left for EWU that year.
