Justin Calhoun great game!

Wow! This kid totally exceeded my expectations and he looks like he has been playing the position for years at this level. The secondary was a major area of concern to start the season but now looks to not only be good but GREAT!!! (as Tony the tiger would say) When Josh Buss starts playing the entire game with Donte Olson at his side this defense could be something special this season.

UNI had a good offensive line. Will be interesting to see what the Griz do against BSC teams, especially if the secondary continue to compete at a high level. I would expect more sacks and TFL’s.

The next Tru

Grady Bennett remarked more than once that Justin could have a future at the next level and will be thanking Coach for moving him to defense. I don't know about him being the next Tru, but with time and coaching he can only get better. He's definitely going to be fun to watch.

I too noted those comments during the broadcast. Maybe not the next Tru (who is?), but he looks damn good. If he does progress from where we saw, I definitely think he could "play on Sunday."

Another point I made during earlier discussions along this line: Unless you're a Cooper Kupp (or years back a Randy Moss) or close to it, it's hard to get noticed by the pros as a wide receiver at the FCS level. There are just too many good WRs at the FBS level -- maybe not "a dime a dozen," but still a lot. But the pros are desperate to find good Corners and Safeties, and they'll look at every level of college football to find them.

Calhoun was great. What should hearten everyone are the PI penalties. The defender has to be close enough to the receiver to interfere. That means they aren’t fifteen yards off their coverage assignment & the receivers aren’t running unimpeded through the secondary. One small criticism I’d direct to coach Baer, Sims & Shaw aren’t your best options for zone coverage. Just sayin.

Definitely was surprised how much pressure the Griz brought all game with a young secondary. Hats off to them, they rose to the occasion.

 Watching Sims try to cover that TE....he did a commendable job, but he’s gonna lose that battle more often than not for sure...

He has become one of my favorite Griz players on this year's team. He was a great WR in the previous two years, but maybe he will be remembered at this postilion if he continues to play well? As aforementioned above, he might become the next Tru?
