Junior Bergen to the 49ers is a story of loyalty and patience instead of chasing the bag in the present moment

After the 2023 playoff run Junior could have transferred and played at many FBS programs for more NIL money. He could have complained in 2024 about how Bobby Hauck is not using him enough in the offense but he stayed humble and loyal to the Griz and now has a chance to make an immediate impact on one of the premier franchises in the NFL.

Same to be said for Eli Gilman.

This is exactly what Eli's mother told us as to why Eli is not leaving! He loves Montana and the money will come! So proud of Junior and Eli.

Maybe he’s being loyal to Bobby. Anyone thought of asking that?

How many Montana guys has Bobby Hauck coached into the league? Colt Anderson, Marc Mariani and Dan Carpenter are some other special teamers that come to mind.

He has been great except he just can't do it with a QB. That's his biggest weakness. Maybe this year AH Yat will fix this problem.

DB Jeff Shoate '03, T Dylan McFarland '03, G Thatcher Szalay '04, RB Justin Green '04, G Cory Procter '06, CB Tuff Harris '06, DE Kroy Biermann '07, K Dan Carpenter '07, RB Lex Hilliard '08, S Colt Anderson '09, WR Marc Mariani '09, S Shann Schillinger '09, DB Jimmy Wilson '10, RB Chase Reynolds '10, WR Jabin Sambrano '11, ILB Caleb McSurdy '11, CB Trumaine Johnson '11, B Dan Moore '12, LB Jordan Tripp '13, OT Dylan Cook ‘18, WR Samori Toure ‘21, LB Patrick O’Connell ‘22

I know any of the guys from ‘11-‘13 might be a stretch but they did play for Bobby.

Of the 58 Griz that have made it to the NFL in Montanas 128 year history, in Bobby’s 14 years here, he has coached over a third of them with 22. 2nd on the list is Robin Pflugrad, who Bobby shared 6 of his recruits with.

And maybe Jake Jensen will fix the problem. I guess we will find out in September.

Skattebo and Ward made millions by betting on themselves. Players selected in the 6th or 7th rounds have less than a 10% chance of making even a practice roster. I think Bergen made the right choice because he would have struggled against P5 schools. Mellott messed up. He could have been impactful as a slot receiver at a P5 school and, more likely, would have been drafted higher given his measurables.

Your 6th and 7th round stat is wrong and too low, according the internet. The lowest stat I saw on making “roster” was 10-15%. Some were higher. Let’s see your backup for making even practice squad is under 10%. Don’t blow scouting buddy BS at us.

Looks like Skattebro will make just over $5 million if he makes through his rookie contract. A 7th rounder would make over $4 million.

Mellott messed up by going to Bozeman instead of Missoula. Junior Bergen will make an immediate impact as a returner. How many guys even 6-7 round get drafted for special teams and do not make the team? Hardly any, even bums are kept around until their second training camp minimum. John Lynch will look like a fool cutting someone he drafted for special teams when the Oline is weak.
