Junior Bergen - RB or WR?

Listed on the roster at RB but where will we see him line up for the next three years? I don’t see him contributing on the OL by the way.

Interesting. Slot receiver, I assume.

I’d assume mostly WR. He was really only brought in at RB due to attrition but proved more then serviceable. Putting him back there on occasion for a twist may be interesting but he’ll more then likely be 3-4 on the depth chart. He may be a starting WR and PR though. GoGriz probably just hasn’t updated the position yet.

This. Probably starting in the slot with the departure of #7.

With Sulser gone, for sure.

Just get him the ball in space and let him do his thing. Sweeps, pitches, screens, streaks. The guy is a dude, just let him eat

Use him at both, based upon matchups. Not many LBs can cover him, coming out of the backfield.

A healthy and returning Marcus Knight coming out of the backfield is a huge problem for LBs. Don't need to use Junior there at all. Knight is a great pass catcher and big match up challenge for the opposition. I would go so far to say that Knight is an "every down" back. Use Junior in the slot, now that Sulser is gone. That will be his greatest value.

Knight won't be used on every down, mostly to protect him and keep him fresh. I expect to see some Ostmo. We'll probably see the MN kid for four games. RB will be the big difference for us this year. And a QB who can run.

He is made to be a slot receiver. I think he will take Gabe's place.

I had heard that Bergen had moved ahead of Sulser on the depth, chart last spring and that that may have contributed to Sulser's departure. I hope Sulser can be the Texas punt returner and more. It looks like Texas' punt returner graduated.

I am always struck, by how little he played (injuries) and how little production he had (not many games), compared to how good I thought he was.

34 catches in 4 years. Played in 4, 2, 6, 6 games at UM.

It was unfortunate the injuries he had. I think the plays he made were pretty electric which led to high expectations. He is a very good football player and a really great kid by all accounts. A history of concussions and knee injuries have ended a lot of great college football players careers. Really boils down to bad luck. I hope he has a great year down there but more importantly stays healthy so he can have a great post college life.

Both are very talented players. But Bergen is a very durable player; he can be counted on to be available.
